The bicchiya is worn in pairs in the second toe of both feet and is usually made of silver metal. They are worn by the women as a symbol of being married. In some of cultures in India the husband puts the toe ring during the wedding ceremony. . . An example of this is seen in the picture of Kirans wedding ceremony. . . Another belief is that toe rings are good for health as they regulate the menstrual cycle, and thus increase the chances of conception, as the slight pressure on the second toe ensures a healthy uterus. . .
