I think the condition is the same for people from other cultural ethnicities, too. White people love "chicken tikka masala with garlic naan and mango lassi," wear Indian ethnic clothing, and wear dupattas as a scarf with dresses, labelling it as "so European, so chic"(iykyk) while they don't know anything about its origin.
They just pick and choose what part of a culture or ethnicity they like or don't like which is highly absurd
