During German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's three-day visit to India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that Germany plans to boost its annual visas for skilled Indians from 20,000 to 90,000. This decision underscores Germany's trust in India's talented workforce and aims to strengthen economic ties.

At the 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Businesses, Modi highlighted the potential for collaboration between the two leading economies. He stated, “Together, we can become a force for global good, and Germany’s commitment to expanding visa numbers reflects this partnership.”

The leaders also engaged in discussions regarding global issues, including the Russia-Ukraine war and tensions in West Asia. Modi reaffirmed India’s stance that war is not a solution and expressed readiness to contribute to peace efforts.

Scholz encouraged India to help find a political resolution to the Ukraine conflict, emphasizing the importance of India as a stabilizing force in South Asia. He also addressed the need for a ceasefire in the Middle East and a political process towards a two-state solution.

In addition to these discussions, both nations signed multiple agreements, including treaties on mutual legal assistance and the exchange of classified information, highlighting their growing cooperation in defense and security.

Modi characterized India-Germany relations as a transformational partnership and called for reforms in global institutions to better address contemporary challenges. He welcomed the 'Focus on India' strategy from Germany, aiming to enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
