Sometimes I dabble in photography

Some independent work I decided to do. The inspiration came to me when I went through my journal from last semester's Design course in New Media. One of the projects was based on colour theory and included many different examples of colour work such as mood, complimentary themes, etc. My favorite of these works was editing photos in illustrator and making these photos have only six colours. I wanted to do this more, so hence this piece of work. The picture was taken during a family trip to Ha Long Bay, Vietnam. I chose this photo because of the simple beauty found within it and the bright colours. The challenge to this piece came when some of the colours showed up where they were not appropriate such as blues found on the islands. I had to hand-edit this which took a lot longer than expected. I'm relatively pleased with the result, although the colours are a bit scattered. That being said, it gives it a 'Pop Art' kind of feel to it.

This is a rough design of a tattoo I designed for a friends a couple months ago. She wanted me to capture the mountain range from her hometown in Invermere BC.
