he couldn’t remember the last time he had a break long enough to have fun on his own. so once his next payroll came in, terry was out the door at the end of his shift, and right at the bar. it felt... great. better than being confined between the dilapidated walls of his own house. he’d only had a few drinks when a man across the bar caught his eye, which, really, didn’t happen quite often. terry usually just settled on mediocrity - physically average, that was what it was - but it looked like he wasn’t keen on that tonight.
downing a final shot of tequila, terry made his way across the bar, stopping just enough to give the other a light tap on the shoulder. on the way, he weighed his options - a lame pickup line or an even lamer pickup line. terry decided to use one of the stupidest lines he, himself, had ever heard in his entire life. just because he was feeling bold, and, well, he liked a challenge.
but he also liked to be surprise. the smile on the other’s face denoted a positive response, and terry just knew it wasn’t because of the outdated pickup line. “well, i really wanted to catch your attention,” he admitted, mirroring the grin with a bright one of his own. “worked, didn’t it?”
with an elbow resting on the counter, terry boldly leaned forward. “should we let them get to know each other, or should we get to know each other first?”
