The Only Exception
About an hour or two ago, Damian had accepted Dick’s mark. It had taken a lot of courage but he finally understood that he trusted the incubus and that he wanted to be with him. His wings would mean nothing in the end if he was alone and in sorrow because of his breaking heart. It had taken a long time to accept that but finally, it was done.
But after floating around in the church wondering what was going to happen now, the angel felt his wings begin hurting. At first, the pain was like pins and needles, making it uncomfortable to fly or even float. He had landed on his feet, before the altar, to checked his feathery appendages. Each touch only made the sensation worse and inwardly, the angel was crying for his wings. He knew what was going.
He knew He would be furious. This was his punishment. Damian swallowed and decided to wait it out alone since Dick was still no where to be found. After several minutes of feeling as if needles were being jabbed into his pores, the angel found his wings suddenly numbing from the tip to the root. HIs back felt stiff and heavy and no matter how hard he tried or how hard he concentrated, he couldn’t make his wings flutter or move.
It was as if they had turned to stone. Sweating now from both the stress and pain, Damian only hoped the next part would come and leave quickly. Yet, once again almost as if He was punishing him, Damian had to sit through almost half an hour of feeling his back and wings burn off him. The angel could feel his feathers falling off as God ripped off his wings. He couldn’t hold back the scream that ripped out of his throat when one wing finally disappeared. The boy fell to his knees before slumping over on the floor, breaths coming out shaky and wheezy. Blood dripped from his back, red like that of a mortal, and pooled around him. His once white tunic turned dark red, soaked with his now human life force.
By the time God took away his second wing, Damian was nearly unconscious. It was always painful, no matter if it was the second time. Each breath was pained and the angel turned human couldn’t even curl into a ball with the numbing sensation in his back. White feathers were scattered around him, the only sign that he even had wings in the first place. Damian sobbed as he finally felt the end of the process, body trembling. The wounds closed but they would leave scars this time.

Tim had accepted the request sent to him. Of course he had other missions and paperwork to deal with but God himself had requested that Tim take on this mission. He couldn't refuse. As Tim flew down to the Earth from the Heavens he went over the mission file he read over at least twice. He was to find a demon, whose name he didn't know, and banish him back to hell. Easy enough. Tim landed in a secluded area near the church the demon was last sighted, taking in his surroundings as he began the start of his mission. He hoped to finish this quickly and return back to heaven.
