Nabil Faltas - The World Bank Group's Young Professionals Program
Prior to his passing, Nabil Faltas served as the chief of special operations for the International Finance Corporation, a division of the World Bank Group. In this role, he created restructuring and recovery strategies for countries in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Early in his career, Nabil Faltas joined the organization through the World Bank Group's Young Professionals Program. Founded in 1944, the World Bank Group seeks talented individuals to contribute to its mission of ending poverty and increasing prosperity in developing nations. One way the organization recruits for its 120 offices is through the Young Professionals Program. This initiative is opene to persons under the age of 32 with an advanced degree and three years of experience in a field relevant to the World Bank Group's endeavors, such as social sciences, engineering, urban planning, or economics. While the ability to speak more than one language is not essential, it is considered an advantage. Only 40 people are accepted into the Young Professionals Program every year, and they take part in a 24-month structured training program. Receiving on-the-job experience, they are sent to various countries to take part in field assignments. The World Bank Group gives its Young Professionals opportunities to engage in their personal professional interests and receive guidance from previous program graduates. Moreover, they receive salaries, benefits, and relocation expenses for their efforts.
