Lucky stood, eyes gazing over the monitors in the intercom room. He felt something brush against his sides, causing him to shiver. Large hands and coiled arms wrapped around his figure.
“Shining star,” Frankie whispered against the contestant’s ear. “Why have you been hiding from me?”
Lucky didn’t move; he continued to stare at the lit up screens that showed no movement. “Because I wish I’d never met you,” he said in a dazed-like tone.
Frankie’s movements stopped just before he unwrapped his arms, slowly and hesitantly. The host turned and walked out, not even looking back to the contestant as if he would apologize… because that was only in Frankie’s imagination.
Fun fact: I almost posted this on the wrong request…
-
The contestant stood in the corridor, watching Other Frankie read the live comments from the recent episode.
At first, Lucky had thought Frankie adored him, now, after spending some time in the park around Frankie himself, Lucky wasn’t so sure.
Frankie would praise Lucky openly and shamelessly, but when Lucky started catching the host rewinding the one episode Lucky had been in over and over again, he started feeling more uneasy, and that only increased when he noticed the little nickname Frankie had given him: my shining star. The contestant didn’t like how Frankie had claimed him as his star, like he was an object.
“Am I just a toy to you?” Lucky blurted, utterly by accident. He mental beat himself for saying such out of the blue.
The host slowly turned to gaze at Lucky. If he could, his expression would’ve shown how confused and stunned he was at the blunt question.
The contestant, noticing Frankie’s hesitation, repeated, “Am I a toy to you?”
“Of course not, my shining star, why would you ask that?” Frankie turned to face Lucky completely.
“You—you’re lying, you always lie. That’s why you went bankrupt, why you were going to be scrapped like another piece of garbage that doesn’t belong here,” the contestant argued, heart pounding and voice brittle. He’d thought finally someone actually liked him… he thought so wrong.
Lucky took another sharp turn, his breath heavy and quick. Monster Frankie is right behind him, and if he makes one mistake, he’ll be dead.
The contestant came up on an obstacle course. He quickly jumped over a gap, but his foot slipped on the edge, causing him to fall. His hands grabbed the edge of the platform as he looked behind himself to see Monster Frankie closing the distance between the two excruciatingly quick. Lucky pulled himself up and started running again.
Meanwhile, Other Frankie stood watching in the Intercom room. When Monster Frankie reached out to grab Lucky, Other tensed up, but, luckily, the contestant had slipped away.
Other could see that Lucky was getting tired; the contestant had been running for almost an hour, barely stopping to catch a break.
“He’s not going to make it,” Cartoon Frankie mumbled from a side monitor.
“He will. He has to,” Other assured, his eyes glued to the screen.
Lucky had made it to the ceiling, yet not far up enough from Monster Frankie. He grabbed a bar to swing on, but his fingers loosened too soon; Lucky fell, hitting the ground before Monster could catch him.
Other slammed his hand on the table, turning and leaving in a hurry. The host made it to Lucky wasting no time.
The contestant lay on his side, mask cracked and body limp. Frankie rushed to him, diligently lifting the contestant in his arms. The host was scared Lucky wasn’t breathing; he was scared one sudden movement would knock the breath out of his star even if he was breathing.
“Lucky,” Frankie breathed, on the verge of tears. No, he couldn’t cry, not now, not with Lucky like this. “I need you to breathe, Lucky.”
When Lucky made no movement or sound, Frankie pulled the mask off and cupped the contestant’s face. “Please Lucky, please, just breathe.”
“I’m sorry… I couldn’t grab him in time,” Monster growled, though, his tone showed how guilty he was.
Frankie pulled Lucky’s body closer. “Lucky, please breathe.” His voice was broken… brittle, as if it were once a piece of paper that was now ripped in small bits.

Other Frankie cautiously reached to pick up Lucky from the floor. The contestant had been knocked back by a part of the parkour equipment while he was making his way through it. As Frankie pulled Lucky towards his chest, he’d noticed he was unconscious.
Monster Frankie walked up, his eyes on the contestant’s limp body in Other Frankie’s arms.
Frankie slightly shook Lucky. “Lucky, wake up.” When the contestant didn’t respond, Frankie’s voice got more intense as he frantically said, “Lucky, come on.” He stopped to stare down at his contestant before he looked up at his monster counterpart. “Why won’t he wake up?” Frankie questioned in choked voice.
“He’s gone, Frankie,” Monster said in a low murmur, his head hung slightly. “He got hit too hard.”
“No… no, he can’t be! He’s our shining star; our lucky contestant!” Other Frankie shouted, tears prickling his eyes as he dropped to his knees with Lucky still in his arms. “Please, Lucky, you can’t leave us… you can’t leave me.”
