Do you have any idea how jarring it was to hear Kevin MacLeod's "Local Forecast" elevator music, a song I associate with a singular YouTuber, in a decently budgeted film starring Nick Cage on Hulu?????????

In case anyone wants the extremely silly Kevin MacLeod/Outer Wilds mashup I slapped together in about an hour for yesterdayâs charity stream!
Yeah, Nikkei_Simmer is twisted.

Sonic and the True King - Music
Hello everybody!
This week we have a bit less visual stuff to show. But not to worry. We have something -just- as good!!!
Weâre going to talk about the Music in Sattk! And soon enough weâll even give you some music to listen to as well.
Now, Sonic and the True King, is an entirely non-profit project that is being created by a tiny tiny team. So the budget for this game is virtually non-existant. Thus, most of the music used in the game was composed by the incredible Kevin MacLeod whoâs Royalty Free music you can find on incompetech.com (I would put in a link but tumblr has recently made posts containing links hidden in the tumblr search feature)
Alls his music is completely free, and yet really good in quality, which has a good- and a bad side.
On the good side, it means we have access to a diverse soundtrack to fit all the scenes youâll be playing through in Sattk.
On the bad side, there is a high chance that youâve heard the same tracks in other indie-games before.
BUT, I said most of the music comes from incompetech.com, not all of it.
In fact one part of your tiny tiny developer team happens to be an incredibly talented composer who has already created two amazing tracks for the game which weâll be sharing with you soon! And theyâre also in charge of composing the gameâs official theme song. That, however you will most likely have to wait for, until the gameâs release.
We hope youâre looking forward to the two tracks weâll be sharing with you in the next days because weâve certainly been listening to them on repeat since we got them.

The Arcana Music
Just a reminder that if you like the music from The Arcana app game, you really should thank Kevin Macleod.
All of the music used in The Arcana is free-use and made by a single person. His music can also be heard in many small visual novel projects, Youtube videos, advertisements and other app games.

And many, many more.
I wish as much as you probably do that The Arcana had original music, but until then, we have Incompetech to thank for bringing us the familiar tunes of our story.
Browse incompetech for 5 minutes and you will find every music piece used by every youtuber ever.
In the beginning, I debated to myself whether or not I should use Kevin MacLeodâs Incompetech music in (dream)FOG. In fact, a very early alpha screenshot of FOG showed âMusic by Kevin MacLeodâ in the title screen. I did use some of his music as internal placeholders, but removed them before the very first October 30th release of FOG, using my own ambient MIDI music instead.
So, in the end, I decided against using his music in FOG. There are several other indie games that reuse his music verbatim, and I felt that the music, though very fitting, would keep my game from standing out.
The music of FOG is original, but if I ever decide to reuse Incompetech music in anything dreamFOG, I wonât copy verbatim; Iâll remix it or mash it up somehow.
What do you think? Would Kevin MacLeodâs music help enrich the atmosphere of dreamFOG?
