Hiya! I know I havenât been as active on this blog as I have in the past. Iâm still getting used to my new job and figuring out grad school for the fall. But more excitingly, Iâve been working on a few WIPs that Iâm hoping to share very soon, including the first installment of my first collaborative write! Itâs a bit of a curse being a slow writer who wants to share new content as soon as possible. In the meantime, here are a few short paragraphs from unfinished WIPs thatâll hopefully be done soon:Â
Heâs restrained to the wall, surrounded by a couple dozen humans, some eying him but most seem to be preoccupied with their own tasks. Several wear white lab coats as they work with computers and various machines, while a few others are clothed in black armored gear and carry heavy guns at attention against the opposite wall. It takes Alek a moment to realize not all of them seem to be fully human. He sees a couple figures in lab coats with brilliant coloration, one with scales and a tail that swayed back and forth and another with translucent wings folded neatly on their back. Another turned his direction and he saw four deep black eyes and horns poking out of their forehead. There were others, beings Alek knew the humans would see as aliens who worked so calmly and succinctly with their human counterparts. Almost like they had been doing this for a while.
âWhat makes you think you can do anything to stop me from doing what I want?â He brought his hand close to Alekoranâs face, hovering the tips of the knives by his eyes and cheek. Alekoranâs breath was caught in his throat, burning with fear of the sharp tips piercing his skin. He tried to hold back a cry as InangĂ© raised his index finger between his eyes, pressing carefully into the middle of his forehead. Blood drew forward as he pressed harder into the skin. Alekoran winced at the dragged slicing in the cut, blood running down his nose and to his lips. He couldnât blink, couldnât breathe or move or think. All he could do was stare into InangĂ©âs cruel, indifferent eyes as he cut deeper into his skin. When he stopped at the middle of his eyebrows, only then did InangĂ© pull away and let Alekoran slump forward in his seat.Â
âNo, please! DonâtâDonât hurt him, donât, please!âÂ
âItâll be okay, MacxĂš!â Alekoran tried not to let his voice crack with tears. âDonât fight them. Iâll be alright!âÂ
âShut up.â One of the guards holding him growled just as both threw him against the far wall. His shoulder cracked against the stone surface and he fell to his knees. He groaned, his eyes going immediately to MacxĂš. He watched the guards bring up a short chain anchored to the floor, locking the end to MacxĂšâs cuffs behind him. They released him and watched in amusement as he tried to pull forward, the chain already pulled taut and keeping him on his knees. Alekoran watched him tremble with fear.Â
âHm, okay,â InangĂ© said to himself as he pulled his hand away and went to lift the prisoner in his arms. He didnât fight it, didnât really seem to notice as InangĂ© lifted him up off the cold ground. InangĂ© adjusted him so his head rested against his shoulder, and his arms were folded close to his chest. His legs swayed as InangĂ© turned back for the elevator.Â
âAlright, donât die on me, kid.âÂ
