Clarice sat down on the floor across from Oakley’s cot, “Take your time, catch your breath and - like I told you before - you decide where you want to go from here. If this is a way station, and you want to leave, it’s not a prison; you’re free to go whenever you want, just let us help you to do it. Especially if you want a fresh start, somewhere that’s safer, where the mutant laws are a little more lax.” Which meant crossing the border and, in the back of her mind, she couldn’t help but wonder how long it would be before their laws weren’t stricter, too. But she didn’t say that, instead adding, “Or you can stay here. Join the Underground, help keep it running so people can keep using it like you used it today. There’s no pressure either way. You have to do what’s best for you.”

“You don’t need to apologize,” Thomas replied, “You just had a baby, and all of your focus is on her - as it should be. But I did offer to help, and I don’t believe in doing so with no intention of following through.” His mother had taught him better than that. Both he and Evie were very strong believers in promises, and giving their word, and then staying true to what they said. After all, what was the point in saying something if you had no intention of backing it up with action? It rendered such words meaningless and - when it came to both of them and serious matters - significantly impacted their ability to trust that any words or promises spoken in the future could be depended upon. “...So any time you need it, whether it’s me watching her so you can get something done, or hanging up the shelves, or putting furniture together, all you have to do is ask - day or night. Don’t worry about the time, either. I keep weird hours, so you’re not going to wake me.” As for him watching Nessa for fifteen minutes so she could shower, he insisted, “Take as long as you need. We’ll be all right.”

Ross liked it much more out here on the farm than at court. This was his home and what he was born to do, not sit idle at one or other event which had nothing to do with him. He watched how Imogen walked through her own patch of the garden which housed her herbs and he couldn't help but smile. She felt at home here too, he was sure. Ross walked up towards his wife and gently held her chin between his fingers. With a smile he leaned in to kiss her lips. "I'm glad to see you so happy." He murmured.

Tommy's eyes were cast down until Mitchell caressed his cheek. "Of course I do..." He began as he set his hands on the vampire's waist and leaned in for a small kiss. "I love you... but you've given up everything to be with me. I know, I know... you wanted to, but still, it makes me feel guilty. We're on the run." Tommy sighed. "You deserve better."

“You’ve done a lot,” Clarice insisted, “And it sounds like that’s just in your nature, you know? You did the same for your sisters, for your parents. Did what you could to help out, and I’m sure it meant a lot to them, just like this means a lot to me.” She held up a sandwich for emphasis before taking a giant bite. “Are you guys all still close? Your parents and your sisters, I mean.”

My leg was injured some time ago," that was one way of saying he had a prosthetic, but it was hurting from walking over the uneven ground and to be able to sit on a real chair would be wonderful for the pirate.
