I need to see two different professors in the same building but theyâre both busy and thereâs only 45 min left in office hours and Iâm so stressed
so I created a new multi-muse page (cause we all know I canât stay away) and I would love some follows and things to start writing with people!!!! check it out
p.s. this is where iâll be from now on cause all my muse has shifted to that account!!Â
âHello?â
Silence.
âHello? Who is this?â
A click.
Strange...Â
âIâd prefer to approach a small design firm for our branding and website, Thomas,â Wesley said, holding the phone between his cheek and his shoulder while he dug through his bag for Salemâs favorite ball. He tossed it for her, watching the energetic ball of fur chase after it.
âYes, Iâm aware that well known firms like Siegel + Gale or Poulin + Morris will give us guaranteed good results, but letâs not forget that they started off small as well. We donât have the funds to afford them, and this is a company for the people. While I want it to look professional, I donât want it to fit the formula that theyâve both developed for their companies.â
Wesley rolled his eyes at Thomasâs response. Really, the man was the best when it came to communications with the public, but was it really so outrageous to want to work with a small firm?Â
âIâll send you my short list of places by the end of the week.... Yes, yes. Iâll tell Michele you said hello. Have a good week. Oh and Thomas? Lay off the caffeine, I can practically hear you vibrating over the phone.âÂ
Wesley was glad that his fatherâs old business partners had taken to his idea so well, it made making the thing credible and professional that much easier. However, they were all quite old and set in their ways. Convincing them that his choices were the best for their vision was the difficult part. He picked up the ball that Salem dropped at his feet, tossing it again for her to chase.Â
While he watched with a small smile, his phone began to ring again. He sighed, rolling his eyes when he answered the call.Â
âHello?â
Silence.Â
Wesley frowned, looking at the number that he didnât recognize. âHello? Who is this?â
A click.Â
He looked at the number again, realizing that it was the same one that had called him weeks ago and then hung up. Strange...Â
Wesley felt a tap on his shoulder and he turned, expecting to see Michele, Bailey, or Will. Instead he was greeted with a face he didnât recognize. An older woman with green-grey eyes, black curly hair, and pale skin. âWesley?â she whispered. Something about her face seemed vaguely familiar.Â
Her hand was still on his shoulder, and he jerked it away, brows furrowing and frown deepening. âDo I know you?â
She opened her mouth to speak, but instead released a sigh. â...No, I suppose you wouldnât.âÂ
Her accent made it obvious that she was from England. Immediately he thought the worst. What if this was someone his father sent after him? She didnât seem like the type, but maybe it was an act. He clenched his jaw. âRight, well... As intriguing as that is, Iâve got class.â He put his fingers to his lips to whistle, but stopped when she spoke again.Â
âMy name is Anastasia. Iâm your mother.â
Wesley paused, fingers still raised to his lips, blinking owlishly at the woman. âExcuse me?â
âI saidââ
âThat was rhetorical. I donât need you to repeat whatever joke you think this is,â Wesley snapped.Â
Anastasia looked taken aback, but Wesley continued before she could speak.Â
âMy mother died when I was two. Who are you really? Who are you working for? Is it my father? Because I donât know what he told you about this job, but our deal is that he leaves me alone and I keep my mouth shut. Iâd suggest you do the same, or you wonât get paid before he goes to prisonââ
âYour twenty-first birthday is this Friday,â Anastasia said quickly, light eyes sparkling with tears. She must be someone his father hired, because Wesley couldnât shake the feeling that heâd seen her somewhere before.Â
âIs that knowledge suppose to impress me? Thatâs public information,â he snapped, not sure why he was even entertaining the conversation.Â
âYou hated peas when you were a baby. It was one of the few things that I actually knew how to cook, and Iâd try and get you to eat them whenever Sophia needed a day off. You only threw them all around the kitchen..â Anastasia took Wesleyâs stunned silence as permission to continue.Â
âI donât know what your father told you about me, Wesley. But I didnât die... I left him. He was not the man that I thought I loved. He was cruel, manipulative, ruthless... With an ego so damaged that all the money in the world couldnât make him happy.â
Wesley found his voice again. âMy father could have told you all of that. Thereâs nothing that you could possibly saââ
âYou were born prematurely. Two weeks early... You were so, so tiny. Your father didnât think youâd make it, neither did the doctors. But I never doubted.â
âShut up...â Wesley muttered. Anastasia just kept going.Â
âI used to sing you to sleep when you were a baby. Do you remember the song? God, you used to have the biggest fits in the middle of the night. Sophia couldnât do anything, she was helpless... And your father refused to even try, said that it was a womanâs job.âÂ
Wesley stared at her, unable to force any kind of coherent sentence out of his mouth.Â
Anastasia began to hum the song.Â
Wesleyâs heart lurched, his stomach dropped. It was like he couldnât breathe. That was the song. Sophia used to sing it to him when he was sad, but she said that his mother had always done it better. But Sophia had passed away about three years ago, and Wesleyâs father never knew the song.Â
âIâmâ Iâm so sorry, Wesley. I-I just... I shouldnât have left without you, but your father refused to let you go with me and I couldnât... I couldnât take one more day with him. I tried to find you on your sixteenth birthday but... But Sophia said youâd run away. I- Itâs been so long. My sweet boyââ She moved forward, arms open to try and embrace him.
Wesley immediately stumbled back, eyes flashing in warning. âGo away.âÂ
âW-What? WesleyââÂ
âGO. AWAY.â Wesleyâs words was like venom, and the ground froze around him. His form flickered and his voice sounded like it held the screams of thousands of lost souls. He shoved past her â his mother â fists clenched and eyes blazing. He felt her try and reach for him, but her hand passed through his arm as it turned intangible.Â
His mother was alive... His mother was alive?! And what the fuck did she think was going to happen?? Some tearful, touching reunion?! Sheâd left him with a monster, run away and left her own child behind. She hadnât tried to reach out to him, hadnât tried to go through Sophia or his school. Sheâd simply let him live a miserable existence for sixteen years before heâd run away. He shouldnât be surprised that his father had lied to him, but Sophia too? The maid that had practically raised him? The only person who he thought he trusted as a teenager? He was practically shaking, vibrating with anger. Wisps of ghostly energy swirled around him, his eyes glowed an icy blue, and objects flew out of his path as he walked, reacting to his telekinesis. People dashed out of his way, eyes wide with fear in ways they hadnât been around him since heâd fallen in love with Michele. He felt betrayed, lost, and more alone than ever before. He didnât want to go to his dorm, didnât want to go to the library. He stopped in front of his door, ushering Salem â who had been following faithfully behind him â into his room. Immediately he vanished, causing a few students around him to jump in surprise. Normally, Wesley would find that amusing; but not today. His form floated aimlessly, passing through walls and classrooms in silence. He hadnât gone full ghost form in over a year. He used to do it to escape, when even drinking wasnât enough. He hadnât needed to do so recently... Things had been good. Though that all changed with three words, didnât it? ""I'm your mother."
