Yurika will never tell anyone this but there are always days in which she is nostalgic for Hogwarts. She’ll wake up one day and wish that she was back at the castle, twenty years younger, with not a single care in the world about anything else other than the Transfiguration and Potion classes she was taking that year, wearing swishy robes and sleeping in on Sundays. Attending Quidditch matches and sneaking into the kitchen with her friends, visiting the giant squid inside the lake.
In the end, all she feels during those days is simply nostalgia, a longing for days gone past. A part of her that secretly misses the feeling of being at home inside a stone castle filled with magic. She misses Hogwarts and she wants to see it again, but it’s not as if she can just walk in and have tea at the Great Hall. She can’t just wander about and reminisce. That’s not how Hogwarts and its security system work. Perhaps she can enter under the guise of visiting her niece but, right now, her niece is still one year away from entering Hogwarts. Visiting her friends’ children instead is another option she’d considered but that would make her look like a miserable woman who clings to her friends’ children.
So instead of finding ways to go back and visit Hogwarts, on the days in which she misses the school, she will simply reserve a table at The Three Broomsticks and order herself a glass of Butterbeer. Sometimes she’ll have her friends come with her but more often than not, it’s usually just her alone.
Today is one of those days. She is sitting at her usual table and The Three Broomsticks feels like an aunt’s house, a place familiar enough to be called an almost home. She drinks her Butterbeer and looks out the window at the cheery streets of Hogsmeade and the looming castle far far away.
