So, the Wendigo
So, the Wendigo. The Wendigoag. The Windigo. The Wentigo. Whatever you want to call it, this malevolent Algonquin spirit goes by many names depending on the culture that speaks of it. It has spread across the First Nations of the upper north of North America, aka Canada. It is in modern media, displayed as a large, bipedal deer-person. While, no, this is not the actual way it appears, the way that the user "finding-my-culture" describes it in their post on the subject is immensely incorrect.
Now, I am not a member of the First Nations. I am not Algonquin or Ojibwa in any way. We do not know or believe that I have any blood in relation to the natives of the continent we know as North America. But, I do my own research. The Wendigo is not a "giant made of ice". That is the Wechuge, a similar malevolent spirit of a different set of tribes, the Athabaskan people.
I am saying this, here and now:
Wendigo is not a slur. It is a name for a malevolent spirit that is a warning against cannibalism and greed. Harass me over this if you want, I don't care. I am stating what I believe. I know I don't have freedom from the consequences of my words. In the words of my late grandfather, "Your rights end where my nose begins."
Also, and FYI, finding-my-culture is racist, homophobic and transphobic. I'd post proof if I could, but that proof has since been deleted before I could get screenshots.
So, harass me if you want. I don't care.
