Life for former United Nations investigator Michonne Philippe seemed content.  She made the choice to quit her position at the UN and take an indefinite break from her long-time boyfriend, Michael Anthony. It was a much needed emotional reset on her life. Putting an end to her dangerous, globetrotting career, Michonne was looking forward to living in a less emotionally complicated world.
Though complication found her once again one seemingly normal afternoon as she sat stuck in gridlocked traffic. She soon realized it wasnât just an ordinary jam when the city suddenly erupted into chaos. Michonne witnessed citizens run through the streets chased by formerly healthy people who changed into vicious, unthinking and feral creatures from a single bite.
Barely escaping the turmoil, Michonne was called by her former boss, U.N. Deputy Secretary General Hershel Greene. He persuaded her to return to duty and go on an investigative mission to find what turned the world on itâs head.
She arrived by military escort to a U.S. Navy aircraft stationed off the coast of Georgia, where a team of scientists and military personnel were analyzing the scope of the worldwide outbreak. Upon arrival, Michonne was greeted by someone she thought she left in her past. Seeing him again brought back the past emotional turmoil in her heart, as the complicated feelings sheâd ran from when she left the UN, came back to the forefront.
UN Soldier Rick Grimes was the most intense man sheâd ever met. For ten years they were paired together on missions that often caused them to blur the lines between personal and professional. Seeing him again added to the stress of the already precarious global situation.
Forced to work together again, Rick and Michonne must lead a worldwide search for the source of the infection before itâs too late to save human civilization.
replied to your photosetâTWD comics issue 169, Rick and Michonneâ
Thanks! Yeah, please keep posting these. I don't read the comics but it seems like RK might be pivoting and I'm interesting in seeing: 1. If that's actually true and 2. How he pulls it off without the comic fandom flipping out on him. The plot thickens...
Hey!
Yeah Iâll keep posting the newest comic Richonne moments. :) I just donât want to basically copy/paste the whole issue, but Iâm not. Others paste pics of it too. so.. Also the fandom is small and I feel shy about it.. Posting comic Richonne is ok right? even though we already got tv Richonne? lol People loved Andrea too.Â
Iâm curious too on what Kirkman will do with Richonne. But, I think it will be subtle or not that much right now. Rickâs grieving over Andrea (which btw was his WIFE (go tv richonne!)). Also, Michonne is on a trip to Ohio. So for now, I donât think we will get any Richonne moments for awhile like at least 2 issues/2 months. :\
Unless, with my shippy goggles on, Michonne talks about her feelings of Rick to her traveling group and why she has to leave Rick alone at ASZ. Like itâs hard for her to comfort Rick when she has feelings for him but heâs grieving over Andrea (also her good friend. It would be cool if she mentioned Andrea too.). But, Idk ... itâs hard to trust and predict Kirkmanâs writing. He probably just want Rick alone in ASZ....(so then heâll go crazy like Negan? idk lol)
If comic Richonne is gonna happen, it would be way later in the future. Because if itâs rushed and doesnât feel believable, then it would feel like sheâs 2nd choice to Rick. So yeah...just wait and see and depends how Kirkman write about them. So far, Kirkman really showed how close they are as best friends after Andreaâs death, and I liked that. Â
Rick glanced in the rear view mirror of his truck and grinned at the sight of his four year old daughter sitting in her car seat swinging her feet back and forth as she happily hummed along to the country song that was playing on the radio, one he was certain she didnât know. She had insisted on changing out of the jeans and purple polka dot shirt she had worn to school that day, opting for a little light blue, ruffled seersucker sundress and some white sandals in honor of this special occasion instead.
âSo is Miss A going to give you a good report or a bad report tonight?â
âGood,â she answered from the back seat before going back to humming along to the music as she looked out the window.
âAre you sure?â he goaded.
âI got all green lights this week,â she answered indignantly as she met his eyes in the mirror, furrowing her blonde little eyebrows and puffing out her chubby cheeks. She was telling the truth, then again it was only Tuesday. âI like her better than Mrs. Miller,â she declared.
âBecause she gives you green lights?â
âYes,â she answered honestly, causing him to crack a smile. âBut also sheâs nice. And pretty. And she reads stories better.â
âHow does she do that?â
âShe does the voices like you do,â she explained of his silly habit of putting on different voices for each of the characters in her bedtime stories.
It was their little thing, or so he thought. His stories always tickled her to no end, sending her into a fit of giggles as she nuzzled up closer to him while they sat in her bed which made it worth the extra effort for him.
âI seeâŠdo you like her stories better than mine?â
Much to his surprise, she actually cocked her little head to the side and pursed her lips as she pondered it.
âYes,â she decided after a moment.
âThen I guess I should just quitâŠâ he teased with a put upon frown and a mopey voice, although he had to admit that she had broken his heart just a little bit with that admission.

âmsdoomandgloom: Happy Richonneanniversary! Have some cute silliness...â
@msdoomandgloom I just came to say the same thing as @suzieqph Can you make these into stickers, pretty please?
Lol! hey @iminyjo Iâll tell you the same thing I told her, they already are!Â
I think mostly everything I have up on Redbubble can be ordered as a sticker. I will tell you, though, RB stickers can be kind of a crap shoot. Sometimes theyâre awesome, sometimes they print kinda meh but theyâre affordable and ship international. Iâm also working on having some new ones by the time WSC Atlanta rolls around if you wanna wait a few months :) Â Thanks for asking!
iminyjo replied to your post âif anyone got disappointed on less sexy times or not enough cute...â
@wolfwhiteflowers I get it. It's not over. Richonne is just beginning so if as the SPOILERS predict the scenes are fairly "tame" in 7.12 there's always the chance for more and better down the road? Right?
Rick Grimes looked up doubtfully from his thousand yard stare over the green and leafy, vast canopy outstretched beneath the small tree-mounted platform where he stood. It was a magnificent vista, he really loved itâŠfrom safely behind the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of their luxurious suite.
âBabe?â His wife, Michonne said again finally pulling his attention away from the thirty-foot drop to the forest floor. âYou ready?â
Rick smiled faintly, trying to hide his trepidation as resort staff helped him shrug on his harness. âYup.â
He gave his wife a tepid thumbs up and she reciprocated with far more enthusiasm, giving him a winsome and encouraging smile, as she put on her bulky harness and helmet.
âItâs gonna be a thrill ride! Weâre gonna have so much fun, I swear! Youâre going to go so fast! And everything just looks so much more vivid, so vibrant from the canopy! A lot of the wildlife are in trees. If weâre lucky, maybe weâll catch a glimpse of some as we go by,â She explained enthusiastically, giving him another quick smile before turning to share a boisterous laugh with one of the park workers, Pedro.
âItâs a good day for it,â A worker named Ignacio confirmed for Rick affixing his helmet.
Rick listened to them all talking animatedly about it. Doing this with him had been one of the things Michonne had most been looking forward to since they decided to book this trip in the first place. She thought it was romantic and whimsically fitting that they would honeymoon in exactly the same eco-friendly lodge where theyâd first met a year ago. And he hadnât had the heart to tell her that meeting her had been easily the best part of that whole trip for him.Â
Though, it wasnât that he didnât like Costa Rica.
The people were friendly, the beaches, the volcanic mountains, the rainforests, they were all picturesque and more importantly, warm. It was the perfect vacation spot. So truthfully, it was only all the mountain biking, and hiking and paragliding, and ziplining featured as a preferred part of the national âPura Vida" lifestyle that he was still on the fence about. And it wasnât that he was a couch potato either. Rick was healthy, though not exceptionally athletic. He stayed in shape, ran year round, skied in the winter and surfed or rode horseback whenever the opportunity presented itself. It was just that he was far more content reading a good book on the treadmill than running a marathon or going for a nature walk. Yet, it was on just such a trip, on just such a hike, right here, that heâd met Michonne in the first place.
And the rest was historyâŠ
Rick had made sure to take Michonneâs number before he checked out and hadnât looked back since. Nope, never looked back, instead currently, he was looking down. He stood with the tips of his hiking boots hanging over the edge, peering down at the sheer drop through the leaves to the ground, no doubt, far below.
âItâs gonna be great!â Michonne startled him a little, coming up and running her hands smoothly across the expanse of his back as she embraced him from behind.
He nodded and placed his hands over hers and pulled her tighter to him. He loved her even if he didnât love this. That was the key. Rick looked back at the zipline as Ignacio hooked his harness onto the thick metal cable and trolley above his head. Michonne anchored him so that the weight of the cable wouldnât drag him off the platform since he was standing so close to the edge.
âRelax,â She whispered seductively in his ear and tugged on the harnesses crisscrossing his body, double checking the staffâs work.Â
Easy for her to say.
What he hadnât known when theyâd first met and didnât find out until theyâd been dating a while was that his future wife was something of a daredevil. Michonne skydived and parasailed, she scubaâd and base-jumped. A couple months after they met, he stood at the finish line as she completed her third triathlon. He discovered quickly that the vacation where theyâd met wasnât even her first time at this particular resort. In fact, she came there so frequently the staff actually knew her.
âAfter a minute youâll be too amazed by the view to be nervous,â She promised, adjusting his helmet strap a little. âNot too tight?â
âUh-uh, nope,â He answered breathing deeply through his nose. âIâm good.â
Still, despite her thrill-seeking, Rick had known from the very first time they saw each other, trudging up the Arenal volcano, that he and Michonne had far more in common than they didnât. From their type-A personalities to their more introspective and taciturn natures and from their dry senses of humor to a damn near instantaneous attractionâŠthey were meant to be.
He never doubt it.
Yet, Michonneâs more adventurous nature was the one place where they parted company. No time more so than right then when she obviously thought, entirely seriously, that zipping through the Costa Rican rainforest on a metal string for the millionth time would be fun. Whereas Rick knew clearly his idea of a good time involved making excellent use of the wonderfully fluffy, over-sized bed that waited back in their resort suite for them and likewise wearing out the mattress to get their hearts really racing.
If âactivityâ was truly what they were afterâŠ
Michonne tightened her arms around him, pressing herself into his back as if she could hear his thoughts and breathed deeply in sync with him. âI promise, youâll enjoy this. You donât even have to look down.â
âIâm not afraid of heights,â Rick stated plainly.
âI know.â And yet he could still hear the mischievous little smile in Michonneâs voice.
âIâm not.â
âHon, I know.â She leaned to the side, peering around his shoulder while still pinning his arms to his sides. He looked over at her lovely, smiling face just off to his right.
âYouâre just a control freak and you donât like letting go,â Michonne teased and leaned her chin against his bicep.
She made it sound like a bad thing.
âSo?â He scoffed, refusing to be offended.
His wife made it seem like that wasnât a completely reasonable idea. Putting his faith in a parachute or hang glider or a base jumperâs wingsuitâŠor a zipline, was, as far as Rick was concerned, a bad bet. If he was going to jump off a cliff, literally or figuratively, he wanted his hands and his alone, firmly on the reigns.
âSooo, thatâs fine, sometimes, or maybe even most times. But every once in a while, you gotta just⊠let go.â Michonne coaxed, releasing him while still rubbing his arms. âAnd you know all about that, right? Itâs not like youâre afraid to take a plunge. You picked up stakes, moved to a different city, got a new job and married a girl youâd only known a year, didnât you?â
That was also true.
âThat was easy,â Rick smirked. âAnd the incentives were powerful.â
âThey were. Are,â Michonne corrected herself, chuckling and kissing the back of his neck while one of the staff members hooked the line from her harness onto the zipline running parallel to his. ââŠand so are these.â
Rick turned toward her again with an arched eyebrow and she winked at him obviously saying exactly what he thought she was saying. He still didnât really want to do this but with promises of rewards waiting for him on the other side, it was looking more and more likely by the second.
âGood to go?â The staff member, Pedro, asked her.
âYup,â Michonne said gleefully giving her line one good tug that shook her cable and unnerved Rick yet again.
Ignacio gave them all a thumbs up on Rickâs behalf.
âBreathe, babe. Donât worry. Iâll go first and you can watch me,â Michonne said from behind before stepping back. âOkay?â
âOkay,â He nodded, exhaling in relief, but still reaching for her hands again as he felt them slipping away.
However, instead of stepping over to her side of the platform, Michonne gave him a tiny, little shove. It was just enough momentum to push him off balance and knock him right off the platform.
Rick groaned loudly as his feet were swept out from under him. He grabbed the hand trolley to right himself.
âYouâll thank me later,â She called after him sweetly, her voice carrying on the breeze as he slid away from her on the thick, braided-metal cord.
A minute later, when Rick looked back, he saw as Michonne dove gleefully off the platform right behind him. Carried by greater momentum, she whizzed by on the parallel line as he called out.
âYou know our relationship is over right?â
Michonne just laughed as she zipped away hooting and giggling in excitement like a little girl.
After a minute though, even as Rick hated to admit it, he realized Michonne was right. He stopped clinging so tightly to the hand-trolley and looked around. It was indeed as beautiful as sheâd promised. He watched the verdant canopy whiz by. Lush waterfalls cascaded over rock faces into crystal clear waters below, framed by rainbows that disappeared into the treeline. And hilltops and leafy valleys passed him like he had suddenly taken wing, gliding over the treetops. It was like flying and it was glorious. The moment he let go of the overwhelming desire to control his descent, the majesty of his surroundings and the experience completely overwhelmed him.
âSo, Mr. Grimes, how over, on a scale of one to ten, would you say we were, exactly?â Michonne called to him as he caught up to her a bit later, a few hundred yards from the end of the line.
Rick contemplated it before giving his wife an answer as she looked on bashfully. She didnât even have the good manners to not be grinning like the cat that ate the canary.
âI think, Mrs. Grimes, itâs safe to say at least a nine, nine and a half, maybe even as high as an eleven. I have to see how I feel once my various orifices unclenchâŠ.â
âUnclench? Oh Iâm sorry, did you think this was the thrill ride I promised you?â His wife, the daredevil, asked coming in for a landing with a naughty wink.
Rick thought of the adventure that was their new life together and didnât doubt her one bitâŠ.
