Going through my mother’s things is cathartic and wonderful and sad and joyous. She kept these prints of a photo shoot she commissioned of my brothers and I long before we’d picked up instruments. Our expressions are priceless and very much our own. It’s a testament to my mother’s foresight that she kept these, knowing they’d bring joy for years and years and many generations to come.
