"Hey Carrie, uh, I know this is late, but you know how it gets around Christmas with the casino and all. That’s really no excuse, but thanks for being patient about it. You’re a good kid, and I promise we can leave the tree up to July if that’s what you want. I think you told me one time that you’d never had a bear before? You’re probably a little big for this…but every girl deserves a bear on Christmas at some point or another in their lives. It’s just one of those things. Anyway, Merry Merry kiddo. I…Sally and I love you a lot."
---
What Carrie wanted to say was that it was okay that her gift was late, that she didn't mind and Oogie and Sally didn't have to keep the tree up for her, and that the bear was more than enough for her no matter how old she was. But she was just so happy, overwhelmed with happiness, that she couldn't say any of that. Instead, she held the bear close to her chest with one arm and hugged Oogie tightly with the other.
"Thank you so much," she told him quietly. "I love you, too."
((monster meme)) It was pure instinct, crushing Carrie's face into his chest like he did. Sure, she was a big girl, but it was moments like these, when her face crumpled and the fear welled in her eyes, chasing the first tears, that Oogie felt even more pressed to remind her that there was someone bigger. Someone who would protect her. "It's alright, darling, I'm here." with eyes like coals, he turned his gaze unpon the unwitting stranger "Say that again you sonufabitch. Go on. Say it."
Your character overhears someone calling mine ‘a monster’, what does your character do?
Carrie was grateful for her foster father’s embrace the moment his arms enveloped her, hiding her from the threat of judgement. The stranger reminded her far too much of her mother, and for a moment all she could hear was an echo of her mother’s voice repeating that same word over and over. It took her a moment to lift her head again, to look up at Oogie as she remembered what Sally had told her; that her gifts made her special, not bad.
"It’s okay, Dad," she told him quietly. "Let’s just go."
Headache ((Because you were as so kind as to send me some ;) ))
The house was always tense after fights. The air was heavy with the lingering rage that emitted from the boys, and it laid heaviest on shock. She couldn’t talk to any of the boys without getting snapped at, or somehow getting dragged into the fight, and she didn’t want to be stuck in the middle of any of it.
The fight was sparked again a few hours later, the screaming between the boys had started again and words were said that shouldn’t have been, and this time Shock didn’t want to be involved in it at all. Instead, she snuck off down into the lair, hiding herself in one of the darker corners against the wall and trying to block out the muffled yelling coming from above her. She’d only experienced fights like this with Oogie a few times, while it was more common with Lock and Barrel. She was quieter, more well-behaved, and she didn’t like to argue because she knew all too well what happened if she lost.
Minutes later after the yelling had died down once again, Shock heard Oogie's footsteps trudging down the stairs into the lair, and his quite grumbles to himself. She peeked around the corner only to notice that his hands were on his temples and he sunk down into a chair. She debated whether or not she should have gotten up, then decided a little kindness might make him feel better, and slowly came out from her hiding spot.
"Dad? You alright?" She asked, her voice soft and quiet enough that it wouldn't hurt his head, but he would know that she was there.
Oogie didn't look up, as even the dim lights were too bright and hurt his head, but he acknowledge her precense with a wave of his hand. She was the only one of the three who called him dad. He was their adoptive parent, but the boys just never caught on to it. They called him Boss and who was he to argue with that? Plus, if either of them did call him Dad, he wouldn't have accepted it. But with Shock, it was different. She was like a daughter to him, and although he never showed it much, he cared for her, maybe just a little bit more than he cared for Lock or Barrel.
"Just a headache, Shock." Oogie answered her in a low, grumbly voice, then added, "Thought I told you not to come down here by yourself." There were some dangerous things in the lair, and even though she was old enough to handle herself, he still didn't want her around anything dangerous.
"I know I know, just came down here for some quiet." Shock relented, carefully crossing the floor to another room, a small kitchen. Trying to be as quiet as she could, Shock pried an icepack from the freezer and wrapped it in a towel, bringing it over to him and handing it to him. "Here, that should help."
He sighed, taking the icepack and pressing it to where his head hurt the most, and muttering a thank you that Shock had barely heard, but she would accepted a muttered thank you over nothing. Then, when he was all settled and comfortable, she mimicked what he had done when she was sick. She took a blanket off the back of the chair and wrapped it around his shoulders, then leaned down and kissed him on the top of the head. "I'll be upstairs if you need anything." and without waiting for a response, Shock left him alone to recover.
As irritated as Oogie was at the moment, he couldn't help but crack a small smile when she left. Shock was too sweet, sometimes he wondered if he'd really raised her or not.

Dipper and Mabel were going to be camping in the woods a little bit away from the mystery shack. Dipper got a hint from his journal about some mystic plant that only blooms under a certain moonlight in a small part of the forest. The flower was said to grant wishes to those who witness it's bloom. Therefore, Dipper had to be there so he could find out who had written the journal and all of the information behind it. Mabel was tagging along to keep him company and because she just wanted to see the pretty flower bloom.
"Alright, Mabel," Dipper said once they had their campsite set up. "I have calculated the exact time the flower should bloom due to the angle of the moon beams and the timing of it's rising. Assuming all is correct, in a few hours when this timer goes off, we should have approximately 5.32 minutes to get in position to watch the flower bloom and get our wishes."
"Alright Dipper. Whatever you say." Mabel said, curling up with Waddles in her sleeping bag. She stretched and yawned. "Boy am I tired tonight. Just wake me when it's flower time." With that, she drifted off to sleep. Dipper soon got in his own sleeping bag, checked his alarms again, turned of the lantern, and went to sleep.
A few hours later, Dipper woke to the sounds of something outside. "Mabel?" He whispered. He turned and saw she was still asleep with Waddles. He saw a shadow pass in front of the tent. A sinking feeling grew in his stomach. "Mabel." He whispered again, one hand reaching for his flashlight, the other tapping her gently as he prepared for whatever was outside.
