Still really processing it, but last night as I was winding down from a day of traveling I realized why my birthdays are so bittersweet for me, but mostly bitter. I place a lot of value in what ways/how people show me love. I stay on a constant see-saw of feeling like it's okay to feel special & celebrate by birthday AND/OR feeling guilty for asking people to treat me special/loved. So when someone asks me what I want to do because 'today's my day,' I feel shitty for saying what I want and guilty for asking them to show me love this way. Like I'm inconveniencing them. Also, when ppl don't show up for whatever is is planned, even if last minute, I feel subtle and silent devastation. I could expound on all the 'whys' but it's an Instagram post and I feel I've over shared already. #im29now #thatissoweird #seasonalaffectivedisorder
