YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!! There is something so special about watching an Ironman race. The day starts with hundreds of athletes standing around in the seal suits (aka wetsuits), casually chatting with each other. Standing amongst them you would have no idea of the magnitude of challenge they are about to subject themselves to. The atmosphere is electric in a calming kind of way. As the day unfolds you begin to see why the race is called an Ironman. Smiles turn into straight faces, which turn into frowns, which for some turn into tears as pain and exhaustion take over and athletes push their bodies to the limits. The finish chute is emotional for both spectators and athletes. You realise that the race takes so much more than just physical Fitness. Determination and head strength are shown off by every athlete as they run, walk or limp over the line. It is hard to describe it, but watching Ironman has changed me. People of all shapes, sizes, abilities overcoming massive physical and mental obstacles. I'm inspired, humbled and motivated. Anything really is possible.
