I think the reason why dungeon meshi is so appealing to me is because all the characters who are not in the main cast are all treated as if they could be. They’re just people. Like that are as interesting as the main cast which I find a lot of manga/anime have a hard time doing but not Dungeon Meshi!!!!!! Like for example there’s Flamela whose backstory is heartbreaking and is generally an interesting character and looks like she should have her own show due to her appearance - I don’t remember her having a bunch of screen time or anything but she’s just as compelling as Laios’ !!!! That’s good story telling that’s good worldbuilding that’s dungeon meshi
