Hi, I saw your post on Tyler's treatment on TVD. Do you think the fact that Michael Trevino informed everyone that he was Hispanic played a role. I know that Julie didn't know when he was hired. It just seems to be that the whole Klaroline thing happened way too quick and for no reason. Forwood was making the show money. It was a very popular ship, still is for some people. What reason other than racism would she have to stop a moneymaker? She's the most illogical, evil "writer" ever.
Hi. No I don't think that the fact that he is Hispanic played any role at this. The thing is that ever since Trevino got hired in TVD he had a certain number of episodes. This is his contract, this is how many money he receives. His character is a fan favorite in general but not so much as to give to the writers reasons to change his contract into a regular full season one.
This is why he has all those departures of no reason most of the times. But the fact is that the writers have turned lazy. They are not paying attention to the details and they think that whatever they give to the audience will become believable. Not happening obviously.
Now whan it comes to Forwood. In season 2 it had a certain popularity. The writers gave Klaroline because Morgan was pressing for love interest and Klaroline was already a popular crackship so they decided to take advantage of that but didn't expect the outcome. Klaroline got a massive popularity. Where Forwood had one fan follower Klaroline had 20. That could be shown from the polls, the number of fics, the constant questions of the audience. Eventually Klaroline got to be as popular as Delena when Klaus and Caroline were just secondary characters. This is the reason the klaroline thing happened so quickly. Because it became a money maker and eventually built up a massive audience.
The thing is that after season 3 they planned the spin off. They had no intentions of going through with Klaroline so they just dragged on the audience along just for the ratings. And that at the expence of Forwood and of the storyline. Since they were not expecting to give a story with Klaroline why not respect both fans (Forwood fans and Klaroline fans) and give a solid story that would end Klaroline and show the evolution of Forwood even if they planned to eventually broke Forwood up too? But no. The only thing they cared about was triangles that would make ships and get people obsessed and of course the ratings. The story and the actors are not that important compared to that.
The problem now is that they have plotholes all over the place.
Candice Accolla is a fan favorite of the audience. People love and adore her this is why they keep giving her love interests. Now that the Originals are out of TVD the writers need the audience to stay tuned and not to bail. This is why they are trying to use Caroline as a character in every way they can. That means Jesse, that means eventually Tyler too but most importantly that means Steroline. Because Steroline has been a very popular crackship and now that they need the numbers again they will try to take advantage of that at the fullest. Expect to see more of that in this season and at the crossovers expect to see Klaroline too.
And in the mean time Forwood is put between rock and a hard place and they will be giving some scenes eventually so they won't lose the forwood fans either. I do believe that at a point the next one to die in the show is Tyler. His storyline is not that connected and his character is a favorite of the fans but not in such a popular demand as others have been and that plays unfortunatelyĀ its part. Which is bad because Trevino had brought TVD money and they should respect Tyler's role and his fans more.
So yes. Plec and co are illogical and not concistent "writers". But that only happens because they don't give a damn about the fans. They only care to give the "wow" effects in their "story" no matter how unbelievable that turns out to be, they care for the ratings especially at the sweep seasons and they care about the ships because this is a teen show and this is what CW is all about.
And so you have it. A mixture of all the above and what you get? A trainwreck. No point with getting attached with any character or ship in this show. It makes no sense and you will not get what you want. You will also be disrespected as a viewer because obviously logic and TVD don't add up.
