The discussion over the evolution of sound and noise has achieved very interesting opinions over the years,and raised some important questions on what defined music. From Russolo and Huxley on the implication of noise over one’s mind, to the concept of silence music from Cage and the summery of what is noise to a modern musician (Merzbow). the perspective of noise can be vary from one to another but the certain idea that joint all is that, noise surround us all the time, if it’s due to the development of the city and technology or to the perception that noise is all sounds, I can definitely say that silence is not an option for us to choose from.

Noise and silence are important subjects to look at, especially in my research, as they contrast the normality of performance. By looking at those elements I can gain a more clear idea of what extreme performance is and how one can achieve that. For my final outcome I will have to explore the possibility of noise and silence, the idea of describing a performance means there won’t be any music playing, exposing the silence/noise in the room.
