but to see yang walk ahead of blake to shield her from ruby really broke me. like?? do you not know your own sister?? do you genuinely think she'd harm her own teammate??

blake doesn’t need protection, and it’s weird how yang tries to shield her like ruby is about to hurt her. i get bumbleby's whole thing is "we're protecting each other"

but that doesn't mean go and protect blake (who has shown she can hold her own in a verbal argument anyway) against your own sister, yang!

sorry for the rant, i just am in shock that this was written and executed this way with no one thinking of how ruby would feel from this. ruby was somehow more effected by jaune's rant (which, while valid, doesn't change the fact that jaune basically held a whole town hostage for 10-20 years) than by yang shielding blake.

i also grew to dislike ruby in v7 and 8 because of her hypocrisy (that got half addressed before dropped) and her attempt to talk down all the adults and take over before making situations way way worse. however i do agree that i also began to sympathize with her in volume 9, and it felt like her actions were finally being addressed while also showing that maybe she isn't suited to be the leader like she and everyone else thought.

the whole yang vs ruby thing angered me. i'm sorry, but YANG? the actual hothead who trashes clubs, assaults grown adults, destroys government property, charges into battle headfirst. that yang? meanwhile ruby is the kindest, sweetest person, who despite being socially anxious, tried her best to make friends and impress others. the kind, quirky girl who loves cool weapons and adores the adults in her life and wants desperately to be like the heroes in fairy tales?

yes, as I addressed, she started fumbling as the weight of the world finally started to get to them, she charged through situations half-baked, thinking she knew what was best because it's what everyone expects of her. but at her heart she's still a kind, simple soul who is meant to see the light in every situation, and yet the moment she started losing sight of that, wondering if she truly made mistakes, the friends that propped her up as the best leader and someone they looked up to, they let her fall.

yang, who grew up with her sister, who knows her inside and out. yang, who went into this FOR ruby, insisted she only took part to make sure her little sister was safe. that same yang turning against that said sister she fought so hard to find is astounding to me. her sister is falling apart at the seams, having panic attacks and an identity crisis and struggling with guilt and shame and the horrifying thought that she made the world worse and helped salem grow closer to victory. and yang instead steps up to defend blake.

ruby has never been a threat, not like this. ruby screaming and crying and having a reasonable and justified meltdown after everything she's been through should not be met with yang putting herself between her sister and girlfriend, nor should it have been brushed aside.

it bothers me because the show and fans insist adamantly that yang is the greatest big sister, but then say that yang doesn't have to always be there for ruby and that she's allowed to make time for blake. nobody said that yang wasn't allowed to spend time with blake, the issue was this. the issue was that yang sensed her own sister as a dangerous threat and stepped between her and blake as if ruby is the one with anger issues who flies off the handle and attacks anyone and anything with said anger. it's ridiculous.

yang sat there while her sister fell apart and did and said nothing beyond limp "are you okay?" the person who actually tried to be there for ruby was weiss, despite the flawed writing of her character. i'll give her credit there. but imagine your team partner trying to comfort you over your own sister who is too busy making googly eyes at her girlfriend or defending said girlfriend against you.

because unlike the bumbleby relationship; weiss + blake have actually developed in their relationship from the initial conflict of weiss's racism — however poorly written — & this moment just echoes how their relationship is now one of mutual support & affection. weiss didn't have to ask blake to help her when she's struggling with her glyph, blake saw that she was & took the initiative to help her. it's an unspoken partnership & friendship; especially with the intimacy of fighting together in combat like partners is as a theme running throughout rwby.

whereas in the blake moment where yang returns back to the manor; it leaves a sour taste in the mouth for plenty of reasons. blake has no reason to be acting this way because nothing in her relationship with yang has even hinted at yang reacting violently or angrily if blake doesn't agree with her, in fact most of the emotional harm in the relationship was done from blake to yang. yang has been the one being emotionally hurt & not allowed any fulfilling resolution to that over & over; & it was yang who we actively saw worrying that blake would no longer like her when they were separated for a day.

but when we come back to the manor & the reunion, it's blake who's acting the traumatized little victim despite all this proof in their relationship that it's her feelings, her safety & her emotional wellbeing that's put over yang's. unlike what we saw above where blake supports weiss with no verbal prompting, in the fights these two fight together against opponents, blake is either defending herself [see: the adam fight] or it's yang taking a majority of the putshots [see: the elm/vine fight] so it comes off as very shallow when blake is acting like the injured party despite her being centred above yang every time.

i've seen people in RWDE shit talk sun and tai and other faves of mine, and i just ignore and move on. why? cos i don't have to agree with every single criticism in the tag. it's crazy that folks keep thinking we're some sort of hivemind as if we haven't addressed that and debunked that a million times.

I've spoken on this before, but you're absolutely right. we're not a hivemind or a legitimate community. some of us may be friends with each other but we don't all agree.

someone tried to claim that we had bigots and homophobes in our circles and that clearly we agree with them if they share our opinions, and that's just not the case.

i don't agree with a lot of what other rwders say, even my own friends, and that's fine. it's not the end of the world. and i know that people don't agree with me, etc etc. that's why we're not a hivemind. a hivemind implies that we all think the same, do the same and are the same, and i can guarantee you that that's not true.

i feel the same way you do. hell, I'm rwde because of ozpin, whom a lot of rwde do dislike. but i don't threaten to turn to the other side, i block or i ignore it.

first of all, idk what the meme image has to do with their own tweet. their ‘meme’ implies that blake hates being shipped with sun and that neither her or yang see it canon. so what does any of that have to do with ‘three way kink’?? nowhere in the meme does it talk about sunnybees. 

secondly? three way kink? really? polyamorous relationships / polygamy are not kinks. they’re genuine, valid relationships and romantic orientations. they take a lot of consent, mutual trust and understanding, and many many conversations. it’s not for everyone, and that’s fine! what isn’t fine is implying it’s something kinky. by reducing these types of relationships down to ‘three-way kinks’ is honestly disgusting and insensitive. 

yeah like, little as a whole isn't bad, I don't mind the mouse. my issue is heralding them as the next canonical lgbt character and how cute and funny it is. like. do y'all not see the issue? we could've had SOMEONE in rwby be nonbinary. it could've been robyn, it could've been even ren! or yang! it could be anyone! why did our first on-screen nonbinary character (in the main show) have to be a mouse?

i'm sorry bee shippers that your ship has been cockteased for over half a decade, that freezerburn is far better comparatively & that the one who actually helped yang heal & vent about both her mothers where blake still knows nothing about raven or tai, is weiss. i'm sorry that all the moments that should've gone to your ship beyond just hand holding & blake looking sad & depressed went to freezerburn.

i know in my last few years of high school i'd be upset when a close friend of mine would mention her crush/bf. turns out i wasn't upset at her for having a bf and ignoring me, i was upset because i had a crush on her.

it takes time to come to terms with who you are and who you like. but it's not a competition and some folks come out later than others and that's okay!

i spent so much of my time in high school and prior being focused on grades that i didn't have time to figure myself out and who i liked. it was only once i got to college that the gay hit me like a truck, so to speak.

don't feel forced by anybody to come out. i felt forced to come out by my group of friends at the time and it really fucked me over for a bit.

figure out who you are and come out when you're ready.
