Ilhyeon is kind of a prodigy. He was surrounded by music from an young age, and grew up with it. His mom taught him how to play the guitar, his dad taught him the piano, and his older brother taught him the drums. He taught himself to sing; that was the skill that came naturally. But he was very adept in these fields, and his parents recognized that, signing him up to the nearest entertainment agency so they could see him shine. He started training when he was 15, though he had an advantage over all the other new trainees. He focused on vocals and dancing, since those were the skills that would get him in a group, though he had to wait until his company had amassed enough members to debut with. That didn’t last long, though-- it imploded, and he was picked up by MM, where his music prowess was an asset
