Unhinged cars or planes headcanon of the week: The Old World
The Old World is, quite simply, the world that existed before mechanical life.
Records of this time are incomplete, and much of what people know about it stems from what the Manufacturers and their Factories have allowed to become mainstream knowledge: Whispers of a dying world full of garbage, toxic waste, and heavy metal polution. Music, religion, some literature referencing events and places and creatures that haven't existed in millenia. Deadly, organic viruses and enhanced UV radiation from a decimated ozone layer.

That's great, it starts with an earthquake Birds and snakes, and aeroplanes And Lenny Bruce is not afraid
Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn World serves its own needs Don't mis-serve your own needs Speed it up a notch, speed, grunt, no, strength The ladder starts to clatter With a fear of height, down, height Wire in a fire, represent the seven games And a government for hire and a combat site Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry With the Furies breathing down your neck

Most towns have a radio station that plays the "oldies;" a variety of music from the old world spanning dozens of genres, everything from Blue Grass to 80's synthwave. Songs by Enya, Secret Garden, Imogen Heap, Michael Jackson, Sheryl Crow, and Malukah are well loved, and "Sleepsong" by Secret Garden is a popular lullaby. Moonshiners in the Appalachian Mountains would sing "Way Down We Go" by Kaleo as they were loading up product.
