Update on Victor’s speculated age (spoiler-free)
A part 2 of this post, updated with new considerations after his route; might update in the future if other info comes out.
Note: calculations were made based on the hypothesis that the game is set in 1893.
The official English translation for the "long period of war" mentioned in JP is the "Great War"; could this actually refer to the Crimean war? I went through UK wars from the time period that matches more or less (Victor cannot be in his 20s and is most definitely not in his 50s). The only two worthy candidates are the Crimean War and the First Anglo-Afghan War, mainly in terms of losses (*).
However, the Crimean War involved all major countries from Europe, elevating it a step further from a war fought between two countries.
Furthermore, across the route Victor states that two of the main issues the government was dealing with before/around his birth were economic struggles (as opposed to the great economic flourish brought on by the Queen) and public dissatisfaction. As reported by Wikipedia, "[d]issatisfaction with the conduct of the war was growing with the public in Britain and other countries and was worsened by reports of fiascos", including public riots and Parliamentary instability, which aligns with the political instability portrayed in the story. Other facts:
The war costed the country about £80,000,000 (UK Parliament);
It was the most well funded war the Britain had participated in up until WW1, and it was fuelled, in great part, by loans and taxes on civilians.
Since the Crimean War ended in March 1856, Victor would be 37/36 (depending on wether he was born as the war was ending or in the year following the end of the war). Consequently, he and William met when Victor was around 21/22. What doesn't quite add up is Kate's age, because she would have had to be wayyy too young (like... 4? 5??), but alas I don't put it past Cybird to ignore possible canon ages and just doing whatever, ESPECIALLY with the MC who can be more flexible than other characters.
(* In his JP route Victor states that he was born at a time when the curtains had just closed on a period of war that left the country devastated and scattered with graves; therefore size IS important lol)
