A burned Gryffindor still thinks it’s important to try to do the right thing. They just have some doubts, insecurities, or cynicism around the idea that anyone can know what “right” is. The world would be easier if they could trust their gut, but they know they can’t.

They still strive to do what they can, and often build a constructed morality system (or adopt an external legal, philosophical, or religious code) in order to live as well as possible. But unlike a Ravenclaw Primary, who would be satisfied and righteous using this external system, a burned Gryffindor will always be disappointed and even guilty using this out-sourced moral system.

A Burned Gryffindor has lost confidence in their own internal moral compass. They’d prefer a reality where they could trust their gut and themself, and just do good-- but they live in the real world. Things are too complicated. So they build, find, or invest in an outward morality-- a code, a religion, a philosophy, or another person. This means they can look a lot like the Ravenclaw, relying on an externally constructed morality. However, while Ravenclaws are comfortable and satisfied by this external system, for Gryffindors prioritizing external systems is a pale, disappointing comparison to being able to trust themself.

Hufflepuff Secondaries invest themselves into their world with service and support. When things turn out well for a Puff it often comes as a result of those old investments culminating and giving back. Old debts might raise their head in a time of need. Communities the Puff has supported or built might marshal to their aid without even being asked. Their reputation might precede them, allowing them trust or the allowances that they need. They spend the time and do the work-- while a lot of the time that work may be invested in the people around them, it can also be invested in projects, systems, or organizations-- and that work, too may pay back in time of need.

Often overlooked, Hufflepuff Secondaries may be handed secrets, access, or tasks of monumental importance because they have developed a reputation that they can be trusted with them. This reputation is earned through a slow and steady process of hard work.

Not everyone can see the worth of a Hufflepuff Secondary. Less flashy than a Gryffindor, less smooth than a Slytherin, less jack-of-all-trades than a Ravenclaw, their strength is their dedication. Like all Secondaries, this sorting is about what a Hufflepuff wants to do-- not necessarily what they are able to achieve within the constraints of life, circumstance, and health. But a Hufflepuff wants to show up. They want to work well and fairly. They want to achieve things honestly and stand on solid ground.

This is what makes a Hufflepuff: they show up. They do the work, often for no obvious gain except for the satisfaction of a job well done. This is the source of their power, and it is slowly gathered, not obvious to look at, and rarely spent. Where Gryffindors charge and Slytherins transform, the Hufflepuff seems inconsequential and harmless until the moment when they rise up and call on all their debts, secrets, and trust.

  It wasn’t like Naraku sent her out specifically to investigate the merry band of Inuyasha, but Kagura decided to do a detour before tending to her burdensome tasks. Ruby hues settled upon the bizarre iron wagon she’d associated with the young miko, curiosity always getting the better of her, she sneaked closer. Kimono had been lifted, and clumsily, she tried to mount the peculiar iron horse, only for it to tumble to the side with a clash. Fuck.

    Kagome’s voice came right after, her question was instinctively registered as a threat, but still the demoness wouldn’t move an inch, too puzzled from the failure.

                    “Not really. Is it some kind of weird priestess magic?                       It will only allow you holy bunch to mount it, am I right?“

              a  breath  comes.  wistfully  amused  at  the  burnette’s  stubbornness.  “here,  let  me.”  and  with  that,  sango’s  encroaching  into  kagome’s  space,  deft  hands  smoothing  back  the  fabric  adorning  her  legs.  accessing  and  cleaning  the  wound  without  ever  batting  an  eye.  well  ----  all  except  for  the  way  sango  manages  to  level  a  look  at  the  younger.  brows  steadily  climbing  up  into  her  fringe  with  a  silent  promise.  one  that  absolutely  guarantees  that  she  wouldn’t  be  letting  kagome  forget  about  this  endeavor  anytime  soon.    -----  “there.  that’ll  at  least  help  with  the  swelling  for  now. “  sango’s  pulls  back  with  the  task  completely,  and  after  returning  to  her  feet,  she  offers  a  supportive  hand  to  her  friend.   “ can  you  manage  until  we  meet  up  with   the  others?”
