because female characters are held to a higher standard of purity and goodness than male characters and, in failing to be innocent faultless waifs, are universally reviled for failing to fulfill femininity.  alternatively, however, a female character who does fulfill those requirements is also likely to be despised for being useless or bland, so really ur only shot is to Be A Man

CAREFUL STEPS TAKEN, UNTRAINED YET CAPABLE   eyes follow the other’s movements as if the two’re playing hide  &  seek within this rotten house. this was getting annoying: how many people’re gonna get infected  &  grow in some cliche villains ‘til someone figures out what’s happening ?!  -  frankly, he knew what’s it like to see a family being torn apart by some goddamn freakshow of a company, yet it didn’t mean sympathy should be given.  “ i’m sorry if i scared you “ ,  my ass,  scoffs steve before moving from his hiding spot to another.   ❛  only thing you’re scaring ‘re those friends of yours... ❜  he murmurs to himself, trying not to let his presence known, before quickly slipping from behind  &  bolting in opposite direction. yes ... !  finally, away from this damn lady !
