The word "Igolot" means “mountain people” in the Tagalog language of the Philippines.
It was originally a racist slur, started by marauding Spanish invaders in the 16th century.
But the Igolots noticed it had a nice ring to it, and decided to use the insult to refer to themselves.
The Spanish dickwads at the time said the people were uncivilized and unable to contribute any innovations to modern society.
But little did they or anyone else know:
The Igolots carve bikes from trees.
