Dr SM Balaji’s Dhivehi book on Facial Defects released by His Excellency, The Health Minister of India Dr SM Balaji, the Chennai based cleft lip, palate and craniofacial surgeon has been the Honorary Consultant of Craniomaxillofacial Surgery to the Government of the Republic of Maldives. He has operated on hundreds of children with facial defects at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male, Maldives. His zeal and dedication towards the rehabilitation of children afflicted with craniofacial defects had led him to publish his book on Facial Defects in Dhivehi, which is the official language of the Maldives. This was to enable the Maldivian people to understand the causes and treatment of various facial defects that occur in newborn infants His Excellency, The Health Minister of India, Hon’ble Anbumani Ramadoss was invited to release the book at the IGMH in Male. His Excellency, The Health Minister of the Republic of Maldives, Hon’ble Ahmed Abdulla partook in the ceremony and spoke about the enormous contributions made by Dr SM Balaji towards the rehabilitation of children with facial defects.
