While riding my bike home last evening it was cloudy and pretty dark! It was dry weather for a change so I decided to take a huge detour and venture into the countryside my province, Drenthe! At first there wasn’t much to see because everything around was pitch black and street lighting isn’t available(luckily) so riding a bit cautious in case of deer jumping out of the shrubs onto the bicycle path! I entered the hamlet of Balloo and the lampposts there were blinding me completely after coming out of the darkened forest! Luckily at this time at night(7 o’clock) there aren’t people outside anymore so crashing into a fellow cyclist, runner or car is out of the question! I rubbed my eyes a bit and visibility came back to me! The hamlet looked amazing with its wet streets, faint lighting, sound of cattle coming out of the stables, the smell of damp hay and the beautiful old farmhouses! It was a short visit because it is a short street and before I knew it was black again, straight into the darkness and coming out of the light I again was completely blinded! After some kilometers the landscape became somewhat white, a bit glowing in the dark, you could say! The moon came out and was pretty bright so I could see everything around me and it looked awesome! Most of the fields where flooded and the reflections looked absolutely fabulous! Maybe, maybe I could even snap a shot, I thought! At a small wooden bridge I stopped, dismounted, grabbed my snapshooter and aimed carefully! Trying to hold absolutely still and pressed the button......!
