Recently we have been getting out and about at the weekend when the weather has been kind to us. We went to Styal Country Park and used the iFootpath app, for the walking route, and also to track the walk. As it uses GPS you can follow the walk very easily. There are hundreds of walks, and it also includes written instructions too.

November Sussex Landscape Photography 2016

It was November 2016 and soon I would be leaving my home in west sussex to work in Gloucestershire.  I had a few weeks in November to do some walking and practice some landscape photography around Sussex before moving into the unknown. (more…)

Around the River Avon Eckington

Another wet and cloudy weekend for late January with few breaks.  Checking the BBC weather for around Pershore in Worcestershire there was a break of about 3 to 4 hours early Sunday morning around sunrise so decided to use this gap in the weather to do a local walk along the river Avon and Eckington starting at the old Eckington Bridge. Went on another walk today, the Himley and Swindon Canal Trail. I started at Himley Station, walked up the railway line, followed the Wom Brook to the canal, then followed the towpath to Hinksford Lock. Got off there, walked past Hinksford Farm up Hinksford Lane and back to the car. Took an hour and a half, the route is about 5 miles.

Despite the fact it was raining, I didn't actually feel very wet until I had to walk through some grass just after the lock. I only saw a couple of people, while walking along the towpath, and there were some cute baby ducklings swimming about on the water. I think I'll take some bread next time.
