So, something I realized tonight is that Beauty and the Beast is basically like an anti-Die Hard. You’ve got the woman who’s forcibly taken prisoner (Holly/ Belle) by an “upper class individual”. With the Beast, he’s a monster on the outside, but royalty on the inside, whereas Hans is suave and debonair outside, but a monster inside, both with a temper. Then, there’s the lower class guy who wants the girl, likes guns, and is very macho who fights the girl’s captor. And, it ends with a standoff in a tall structure, and the villain falling to his death.
The main difference is in who the good guy is. In Beauty, it’s the one who captured the girl, i.e. The Beast. In Die Hard, it’s the one who wants to save her, i.e. John McClane.
