that was a weird present. but he took a minute to think about it - she and kokoro were... almost the only ones in the astronomy club. and... naming a star was no small feat - legality or officiality of it nonwithstanding. with a sigh, and an amused smile, he nods his head, a hand moving to pat her on the head and ruffle her hair a bit.

“alright, alright. i’ll make sure to pick the brightest one.

“the runt was waitin’ on ya,” he murmurs, looking towards the approaching guitarist. chocolate lab begins wagging her tail furiously, watching hina approach.

FOR THE FIRST TIME since giving in and spilling all of his thoughts to her, Shinji lifts his head to look at Kanon. It sounds like things have been hard for both of them. But she’s being nothing but supportive. He doesn’t know what exactly is on her mind ( she speaks in vague terms ), but the hand offered is a shred of comfort in a time of confusion, uncertainty as to what’s happening around him, and being unsure of his worthiness to be in his own band on top of it all —

But after hesitating for just a moment, he takes her hand. It’s warm. It’s...comfortable. He nods.

IT’S A PLEASANT SURPRISE; one moment, he’s distracting himself trying to fix a charm onto his guitar case, so he knows it’s his. The next, there are delicate fingers in his hair which give him a little start. He raises his own hand to feel who’s behind him, and comes into contact with the soft petals of a flower. Lips curiously parted, Shinji turns, only to see a familiar face with her hands lifting from this head. He relaxes. Smiles, even.
