â i know i'm the last person you probably want to see, but... â
My mind has been racing since the award show. No amount of bowls of noodles alleviates the deep betrayal rooting in the pit of my belly. Itâs eating and gnawing away at the security I once held with Rumi. A pang strikes my chest when thereâs a knock of the door. Her knock, then her voice lulls through the thin door. Sheâs hurting, just like I am. I move to stand, but I canât bring myself to open it, canât extend myself to meet her half way. Because, sheâs right â sheâs the last person I want to see, yet sheâs the first. I know Zoey feels the same, trekking through the unknown.Â
Â
I lean my forehead again frame and squeeze my eyes shut, muttering so low and soft Iâm practically mouthing words, âStupid, stupid stupid.â I take a breathe and answer her, ââŚWhat do you want?â
