THIS  WASN’T  HOW  SHE  EXPECTED  THINGS  TO  HAPPEN  ------  the  only  time  she’s  permitted  to  touch  the  young  master  was  when  he  was  in  danger  &  she  needed  to  protect  him.          so  ,  initially  ,  she’s  straight  away  into  HYPERAWARE  MODE   -------   her  gaze  scans  the  surroundings  ,  taking  in  the  environment  to  try  &  find  the  threat.          she  sees  none  ,  so  her  gaze  returns  to  him  ,  checking  for  injury  or  discomfort.         HIS  FACE  IS  RED  ,  but  other  than  that  -------   

❛    WHAT’S  WRONG  ?        IS  EVERYTHING  ALRIGHT  ?    ❜        she  questions  ,  voice  soft.             she  blinks  ,  glancing  at  the  hand  he’s  holding.            ‘  what? no- i'm fine.. I just.. wanted to hold your hand, that's all. ‘                she  blinks  ,  processing  his  words  a  little  slowly.         DANGER  SHE  UNDERSTOOD.            LIFE  THREATENING  SITUATIONS  SHE  UNDERSTOOD.         THIS  WAS  ENTIRELY  OUT  OF  HER  SPECIALITIES.        

not  to  mention  entirely  impossible.             he  was  her  master  ,  &&  she  was  the  weapon  hired  to  protect  him  ,  no  matter  the  cost.              she  shouldn’t  lose  focus  on  her  job.          BUT  MAYBE  --------

   IT ISN’T MUCH, REALLY. Far from anything special, just a small hairclip with a cute, kitten design that had popped right out of the vending machine when Makoto decided to use one of those coins he had found laying around— only to learn about the stash of presents inside, it brings a small light of HAPPINESS when he realizes he could give these out to his new friends! It might help with getting closer to them... and especially among their current situation, brighten a few spirits. 

   The chance comes as his time is spent with Sayaka— nervous, but BRIGHT smile as he asks if she would like something, before the ( slightly shy ) heartfelt gesture of handing it over. Why is he nervous about THIS of all things?!  But before he can even register her reaction, he finds himself pulled into a sudden hug. “Oh-!” Gasp falls from his lips before he can even TRY to stop it, eyes blown wide as his arms awkwardly hover in the air with shock for a moment, before something finally CLICKS in his head, and he wraps them around her, returning the embrace.

HIS  KNEES  FEEL  WEAK  -------------   she  knows  what  she’s  doing.        her  fingers  are  wrapped  around  his  throat  ,  red  nails  digging  into  pale  ,  swollen  flesh.          he’s  so  malnourished  here  in  towa  city  ;  the  children  hardly  let  him  eat.          his  cancer  is  clearly  biting  back  ,  sucking  his  weight  down  to  the  bone  &  enflaming  the  lymph  nodes  of  his  neck.        she  has  every  advantage  here.         there’s  something  thrilling  about  that.        

BUT  HE’S  NOT  REALLY  STUPID  ENOUGH  TO  BELIEVE  SHE’S  THE  REAL  JUNKO.        he  has  the  real  junko’s  hand  stapled  onto  his  own  arm.        this  was  some  imposter.       but  anyone  impersonating  such  despair  was  worth  his  attention.         WORTH  HIS  EFFORT  TO  DESTROY.      he’s  not  able  to  escape  junko’s  grasps  ----------  despair  has  riddled  his  bones  ,  left  him  feral  &  needy.        so  even  this  attention  is  better  than  none.        any  junko  is  worth  his  hatred  &  adoration.    

Acts of Affection

   { ♫ } kaede certainly hadn’t been expecting maki harukawa of all people to be so... forward. so openly affectionate. not that it was a bad thing, of course! she was happy that the girl was starting to come out of her shell.

but even still, as she was suddenly pulled out of her lab and into the adjoining hall, kaede found herself more than a bit confused.

however, that confusion certainly didn’t last long as maki suddenly began kissing her passionately. the kind of passion kaede hadn’t even realized maki was capable of.

but it was a passion she wanted to respond to in kind.

so after her initial shock wore off, kaede immediately began to return the favor, placing one hand on maki’s back and the other behind the girl’s head, stroking her hair a bit as she began to kiss the girl with just as much passion as maki herself.

kissing maki just... felt right to her. like it was something she had always been meant to do, and now she was finally allowed to do it.

the make-out session continued for a good minute or so, and once it was finally broken off, kaede had to take a minute to catch her breath before speaking.

❝ i didn’t know you loved me that much, harukawa-san. you should’ve said something sooner~ ❞

     “...Could you? Please?”

     Even someone as optimistic as her can’t be that way forever. As much as she would like it, even she has her limits. She tries her best to be strong and optimistic for everyone but even she has days where she just can’t be that way. Days when it feels like she doesn’t have the strength to get out of bed, to face everyone and put on a smile for all of them.

     Some days it just feels like those doubts and worries that she has about herself plague her and weigh her down, making it hard to breath and exist. Those days are always the hardest, even if she tries her best to not let anyone know about them when they happen. It’s easy to put on a smile and let everyone else think she’s fine when she’s struggling to smile herself.

     She should’ve figured that someone would catch her eventually. She just didn’t expect it to be Harukawa of all people.

     The dark haired girl was never the friendliest of the group, but Kaede had said that deep down there was a part of her that cared. And well, she had been right it seems.
