Trump in lovefest with Egyptian dictator - is Putin no longer his bestie?
In an interview with Lou Dobbs on Fox Business News, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump praised Egyptian president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi as a “fantastic guy” who “really took control” of the country. Trump met with Sisi this week while he was at the United Nations.
Sisi took power in 2014 and, according to an Al Jazeera America report, Egypt quickly slipped into a “reinvigorated security state.”
The actions “should sound alarm bells for the whole region, because Egyptian innovations, whether positive or negative, tend to fan out and influence other Arab countries,” wrote Rami G. Khouri, Senior Fellow & journalism professor at American University of Beirut.
