i hate how all media about queer people is either "queer person comes out to family and it goes good/bad" or "queer person figures out they're queer and hides it from their family" because i will never come out to my parents. ever. i know their response already, and i'm not gonna put us through that. i will lie, and lie, and lie, and i don't care if it's deceptive, or malicious; i don't care if i'll just be hurting them more; and i don't care that secrets are hard to keep. i will guard this secret with my life. my parents gave everything to give me the life i have. they had to deal with their own shitty families and they might honestly be traumatized. i know i don't owe them shit. but i love them and i don't want to hurt them more than i have already. so i'll keep parts of myself secret.
