The thing about pro-lifers and vegans using Holocaust comparisons: they are at least partly doing it to be theatrical and to express how much they are into their cause, as well as Appeal to Emotion. It works in the same way as feminists comparing everything sexual to pedophilia, and just as callous. It doesnβt help that hardcore pro-lifers and political vegans are usually both intensely bigoted but too socially graceful to admit it.
Yes, some of them are in fact making Holocaust comparisons to perform dedication to their compatriots. Some of them really are true believers though.
I guess you could call "X is like Y, which we all know was really bad, so you should oppose X like I do" some type of logical fallacy, but I don't think Appeal to Emotion is it.
I'm not a fan of prolifers or vegans (although my negative feelings about vegans are so minor I hesitate to put them in a sentence structure that implies equivalence) but it seems like "hardcore" and "political" are doing some heavy lifting there and you're going to run around moving the goalposts the instant it's needed
