create an identity map
hi, i’ve been into spirituality for 3 years now, and recently came across a very interesting method of self exploration that i’d like to share.
this is essentially called an identity map, filled with certain things that define the person you are. it’s important to remember that anyones identity map can look like anything they want— there isn’t any fixed structure for your map. that said, heres some things i have included in my own identity map.
firstly, i have defined my aura. to do this, i thought about what i would look like as a colour, and imagined that colour as a shadow circling my entire body.
next, i defined my animal, not just by vibe but personality.
then i defined my essence, this can be anything like objects that feel like they resemble you or a part of you.
after that i choose my symbolism. this can include numbers, much more obscure/specific objects and/or things and etc
finally, i decide what my mind looks like. i include certain things that have to do with my current thoughts, as well as quotes that deeply resonate with me.
in the end, my identity mind map looks like this:
aura - silver, black, cream / mauve, plum, turquoise, fuchsia / mint, lime, jade, lawn // black w stars
animal (i am naturally a very calm person making me steer more towards calmer animals) - swan, whale shark, turtle&tortoise / rabbit, british short hair cat
essence (my name means precious, fountain and spring, which made me think of the following) - pearls, spring water
symbolism (i am a very symbolic person and chose specific things such as hyper-fixations and representations of luck for this section) - 12, ghost pipe&flower, white lotus, tea&tea bag, turquoise crystal, limestone, inverse quadruple sun seal
mind - paper stars from books, hairs on a tolype, metal flowers, ocean fish, unopened clams, soccer in the rain, train stations, under parking lots, improperly seated in a car / “don’t trust people in the cyber world”, “not all those who wander are lost”, “i am nothing in my soul if not obsessive”, “one never forgets the taste of certain tears”, “you never knew me”.
feel free to try this method, and i heavily recommended making a Pinterest board with your findings!
what it made me personally realise is that i am very connected to the ocean. a small interesting fact about me is that even since childhood, all my favourite animals have been marine since i can remember— starting with seals -> octopus -> lemon sharks -> green sea turtles. this method truly solidified my connection to water and the sea, something i’d never noticed until now.
thats all from me!
