This isn't a blackbird, at least I don't think so
Can anyone identify this bird? Been seeing him around for a couple of days and I don't know what he is. Saw a female with him once too. Looks like a blackbird, but not quite. Solid black, iridesis brownish on his head in the sun. Sighted in the Salt Lake, Utah area. I apologize for the lousy shot, but this was the best I could do. I sat and waited a bit hoping he'd come back. Did try to get up from the table and get a better photo, but I scared him off.
“Little green bird”. People sometimes ask me what a particular bird is, based on colour and size. This is a male Siskin. Its smaller than a sparrow, about the size of Blue Tit. Its a finch. They mainly inhabit conifer forests, rarely seen in cities but common out here in Kielder. This one will be taking food back to its chicks.
