It's mainly based off this one fanfic where V1 figures out he has feelings for Gabe and although his processors aren't made for emotions, when he does something that involves Gabe as he tries to impress him. The emotion he SHOULD feel from how said interaction goes is translated to the Style Meter. Good outcome (Gabe is happy), more style points. Bad outcome / awkward, your Ultrakill rank is at Destructive now you gay machine /j.

Now, how the hell did this affect my idea for machines eating flesh like a psycho. Specifically the use of style meter, with the idea of taste or how effective it is at refuelling. Different style points for different tastes, and they also deliver a little signal to the processor depending on said taste. Like if the flesh consumed is rotting, that machine is getting +FRIED, bc my God is that shit BAD.

Now I have two other branches off this, FIRST flesh is not the only option but also bone marrow. I might do more research on Bio for this but I read a fanfic where Drones used a little needle like thing to suck remnants of blood from bones and proceeded to crush said bones for more.

I might refine the idea if I get a stroke of creativity but who knows

The other is the fact that ULTRAKILL makes a very good point on effective power/fuel consumption. Digesting takes energy, energy that could've been used to fight or for more important processes.

I originally had the idea of having digestion as a more optional process to get fuel as that would mean that the machine could still function normally and also have the same standard fueling mechanisms while having the digestion thing as more of an emergency or last resort kinda thing.
