noah invites @iddahyun because he misses her, but his lips are sealed. and, hmm, there seems to be a special for two on all days? funny.

he forgets what the day is. which is an indicator to how he spent the previous night: drunk and draped over jaeyoon, maybe? definitely. wasted evenings are a routine---almost a schedule to live by. his liver hates him. noah hates himself. it’s a cycle. a never-ending race to nowhere in particular, but he guzzles alcohol like a car does gas. 

all at once and pricey as fuck. can be messy, too. not a pretty sight to witness.

he invites dahyun for brunch like it’s second nature and there isn’t a looming threat hanging over their heads---like a dark cloud heavy of rain to douse a fire... if ever. he hasn’t seen her in... god knows how long. makes him kinda miss her, but he won’t admit this. though, knowing himself, noah potentially slurred it to jaeyoon or james, his pet cockatoo and personal diary. 

they call him the ice prince constructed of a resting bitch face and empty eyes. noah hides them behind glasses, hides the rest of his face behind a black, fitted mask. one of brand. fatigue is worn in purple circles, dangling and present. he’s nearly ashamed for showing up a the cafe less of a prince and more of grey ice: ran over by tires too many times, stomped on by too many boots, defiled over and over again. 

but whatever; there is weird comfort with dahyun. that she’ll accept him regardless? it’s... weird. he doesn’t like dwelling because that means caring, and noah doesn’t care.

he hates parties.

no, he hates halloween.

the whole debacle is a commercial gimmick to sell cheap, gaudy costumes at insanely jacked up prices, while poisoning kids with cavities, which dentists will profit from—it’s a scam of the century (like most hallmark holidays) or whatever. noah doesn’t buy into the whole fiasco. thinks it’s stupid.

a fucking waste of time (but maybe this is bitter child in him venting).

like this event he’s forced to parade in some kind of mask as if the one he wears in front of cameras isn’t enough. what makes matters worse, some moron took it upon themselves to liven up the mood by mixing in stupid dares. who in the world—

it’s all really... stupid. and noah is running out of adjectives. out of words.

and that probably has everything to do with the clear liquid he’s drinking or inhaling that looks like water but doesn’t taste like it. whatever, though. he needs vodka to function. to survive the night without knocking himself out... or by actually knocking himself out because he wants to leave in any way, shape or form. wants to waltz through the doors and be a free man. and with his sanity.

his stupid ghost, blanket costume doesn’t help there.

yet the more he drinks, the more he loses the footing on reality. it’s a flaw—accurately, alcohol is his kryptonite. he wishes one of the dares is to drink until he passes out, and his liver is complaining like the punk ass bitch it is. but, no. no, of course things can’t be that easy.

life has to be hard.

fuck it, he mentally wallows while downing another shot. his... he shakes his head; he’s lost count, but does it truly matter? he’ll forget tonight. wake up with a raging hangover, but he’ll forget kissing a stranger.

because who knows, they might only be beautiful thanks to the distortion of 40% vodka thick in his veins. noah’s selective garbage like that. picks and chooses flowers from the weeds.

another flaw.

dahyun is flawless, though. and always beautiful, yeah. it can’t be because of the alcohol because noah knows of her. saw her face before. is certain she’s pretty.

so, she’ll have to do. have to suffice to this stupid dare that is sounding less stupid as he reiterates it to himself. must be the alcohol—he shakes his head again to clear thoughts (doesn’t work)—definitely must be the alcohol.

he finds a perfect moment to approach her. when there are less people around. less people to pass. less people to witness. but whatever, he’ll forget all of this, anyway.

“hey.” the greeting is less than polite. actually, it isn’t gracious at all. it’s crass and blunt and carried by a crooked smile. “i’m going to do something fuckin’ stupid but please bear with me for... ten seconds. then you can proceed to slap the hell out of me.”

there is something that pricks odd on the tip of his tongue when he and dahyun step off into the lobby of his condominium. a foreboding, rather irrational spike or tremour in the pace his heart beats. something akin to a warning: don’t get caught. don’t get seen. this is risky. which, in retrospect, isn’t actually out of the norm for idols. noah should be careful—he should tread on the err of caution, but he indulges in impulsiveness, enjoys the rush of adrenaline. it hides the loneliness. even for just one night.

and dahyun is good company to forget.

someone he’s found himself seeing more frequently than what is uniform of him. noah doesn’t involve himself with the same person more than once unless he’s purchased the companion of jack daniels for the night. when people see one another regularly, these weed like things called feelings can grow in the cracks of cement where nothing should blossom, but it does so, anyway—stubbornly so. and when feelings makes their presence known, it’s a nasty job to try to eradicate them. they bring friends along, too.

the most notorious is jealousy. green eyed and clasp on meek humans like iron.

it clutches onto noah’s shoulders, snarling and dripping venom. it feeds noah thought after thought, creating him into a fraken-creature of ghost limbs from people he’s gotten to know in more ways than one and can’t forget no matter how hard he tries (on the rocks).

the ding of the elevator and him taking her hand, pulling her to his door stops the distorted whispers, but the seeds are planted, and the roots are spreading in him like a network of veins. noah speaks over the sequence of his passcode and opens the door. “imagine someone saw us. would hate a blind item article written. none of us need the scandal.” rather aurora and imperial in another is overkill. life can’t be that brutal, but noah finds he shouldn’t give it too much credit. not when he’s seen the notoriety of the blind items displayed. his name dotted here and there.

first thing’s first, he’s practical. christmas might not be his cup of tea, but keeping with all the technicalities ended in him wanting to gift something to his old-time friend. so, first and foremost, he asks her. without cutting corners or hiding his intentions. and the question of what she would need lingered in the air of the dance studio for a while before it was answered.

dax is thoroughly and utterly drunk. he loves parties, the bigger the better, and this was the biggest it could possibly get. it seemed like every few seconds he was being handed a shot or a refill, or a new drink, hands pulling at the costume he was wearing all through the night. and he absolutely fucking loved it. everyone he possibly knew was here without a care in the world thanks to no outsiders allowed, meaning that they could do whatever and whoever they wanted with no repercussions. 

the costume he was wearing tonight was both a joke and not a joke at the same time. every one said he loved to clown around, so why not be the baddest of them all? plus, he loved the way people gawked at his legs the were revealed from the frontless skirt he was wearing. dax felt irresistible, and it made the night feel electric. he had his phone pushed into the top of his corset, the only place he could put since he wasn’t exactly wearing pants, balanced on the sponges he had shoved in between his skin and the fabric. the lipstick he was wearing had gotten a bit smudged from his impromptu kiss with sooyeon but it was still looking okay, not embarrassingly bad yet. 

leaning against the wall, dax looked over the message that had been sent to them, wondering what dare he should attempt and with who. scanning over the options, he settled on something he thought must be pretty simple to do: break onto the roof. they were in a nice ass building in gangnam, it couldn’t be that hard to figure out, right? he grinned, sliding his phone back into his top, he looked out into the rest of the party, hoping to find at least one person that didn’t completely hate him (or vice versa). even if he know most of the people at the party, that didn’t mean he actually wanted to interact with them. dax was only excited to see a good portion of the people here because he wanted to see them make an ass of themselves. 

across the room was dahyun. he actually knew her pretty well having spent some of their trainee years together. she could become friends with most people and she didn’t run away from him even when he was an absolute dick, so he considered that a win. she looked good that night; she was wearing a simple man’s dress shirt that left her legs exposed and he could definitely appreciate that. dax downed the last of his drink before grabbing a fresh one quickly from the bar and approached her.
