Winner of the Best of Year: Chain Hotel, is Edition Shanghai by Neri&Hu Design and Research Office. “Located in hustle and bustle of Shanghai’s Nanjing East Road area, overlooking the historic Bund, the Edition Hotel encapsulates the far-eastern dichotomy: firmly grounded in its cultural heritage, while fully engaging with its contemporary context. The hotel entry is formed by a new podium connecting two existing adjacent buildings of distinct architectural styles, the challenge was to bridge between the vibrancy of the art deco block building and the brutalism of the post-modern tower above.
