The music thrums through the closed windows of the house, light generated by some shitty plastic disco ball casting weird beams of colored light out onto the yard that Matt can peer down at from the little slice of roof overhang he has escaped onto through one of the bedroom windows. Normally he'd be where the swell of bodies is thickest, on the way to drunk and dancing with his head tilted back and his eyes half-closed. It's just...not that kind of night. He doesn't really even know why; maybe it's the string of disappointed texts on his phone, maybe it's the genuine smiles on the faces of every member of Avery's team the hockey team after their win. Both, probably. Or neither. Either way - he's sitting with his back leaned up against the siding and a cigarette mostly smoked down in one hand when the sound of the window sliding open beyond the sliver he'd left to be able to get back in draws his attention.
"Occupied," He mutters, though there's enough room for at least two other people up here; the sorority sister who had this room last year before she graduated had shown it to Matt during their short-lived situationship, "'Sides, I didn't think anyone else knew about -" It's then he turns his head enough to see who it is coming through the window. jivika's hands stayed on her hips as she stood in an authoritative pose. she had zero authority in the pizza place but people must have said fake it 'till you make it for a reason. she tilted her head to the side, surveying the apologetic stranger. nothing about her demeanour screamed entitled customer. so that raised the question why did she barge in without looking where she was going ? was she on the run from the police ? "yeah but it's through the kitchen so i'm going to have to trust you with company secrets and hope you're not a spy. also, there might be foxes fucking in the garbage right now. this one fox has made like a nest right next to it and we can't get rid of her." she rambled while running a hand through her hair. she found it impossible to stop herself from adding irrelevant details. "so, who exactly are you running from?" she asked as she beckoned the weirdly familiar stranger to follow her into the kitchen.
liam slips through the gate as soon as chelsea buzzes him in and he stands in front of her door like a lost puppy. his cheeks are definitely a lot paler than they were two weeks ago, but he couldn't just say it out in the open. "what did we say about pointing out other people's flaws!" he crosses his arms over his chest before he groans, squeezing himself past chel and into her apartment. "you can't hate me because we're best friends." he pointed out, "but you're right." unfortunately, liam had gone off trail while hiking and fell, that was the last thing he remembered before he turned. she's only at this party because some bigwig executive is and her agent has ways of weaseling her onto guest lists. it shows. everybody's wearing black, white, shades reminiscent of private school uniforms, and zosia's dress makes her feel like a garish shimmer someone smeared across high society. it takes all of two minutes for her to decide she'd just embarrass herself, skulking towards the bathroom so she can repeat affirmations in the mirror until she's buzzed off her own delusion. pulling open the door, zosia ditches that plan the moment she spots scarlette at the sinks. a sly smile livens her face, kitten heels echoing against the tile as she approaches scarlette with the summoned confidence of someone always at ease in sequins. "i was looking for you." it's not true, but from the way her voice lilts coquettishly, it could be. "this was my last stop before i completely impaled myself on an ice sculpture."
