The Witch Head Nebula (IC 2118) is an extremely faint reflection nebula located in the Eridanus (The River) Constellation. Astronomers are still learning about this molecular cloud, but research indicates that the wind-swept appearance may have formed from stellar wind of nearby, highly luminous stars. The Witch Head Nebula (IC 2118) and Rigel (β Orionis) // Davide Coverta
Rigel (β Orionis) is a blue supergiant star about 1,000 light years away. Despite that distance, Rigel is the seventh-brightest star in the night sky! Its name comes from the Arabic phrase Rijl Jauzah al Yusrā meaning "the left leg of Jauzah."
