As a stutterer, it is nice to know that there are always things you can say without stuttering. For me, the dialogue from Legacy of Kain serves as sanctuary from stuttering. The way the words flow together never has been difficult for me.

The series has a dark, gothic atmosphere and plotline, but is one of the best series I have ever experienced. I highly recommend it to gamers!

This is the intro to the third installment (Soul Reaver 2), where Kain and Raziel are having a verbal and physical battle of the happenings of the second installment (Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver). I did my best to impersonate the voice talents of Simon Templeman (Kain) and Michael Bell (Raziel), but theirs is much better.

Living with a stutter is just hard. You know what you want to say, and you may be so passionate about what it is, but you cannot form the words to communicate with others. Loved ones, friends, family-- your stutter is not bias. Giving a presentation in class and you freeze on a word as you feel the air being pushed up from your lungs to make a sound, but your throat shuts as if you’re being choked off and your body freezes. Repeating a part of a word five times over and having people laugh at you or lose interest. Staying quiet because you know that you are going to stutter and draw attention to yourself.

I’ve had my stutter my whole life, and I can just feel when it is going to happen, and it makes me physically exhausted. The embarrassment I feel after I finally finish my thought is unbearable. Though people have straight faces, I know they are judging. I appreciate those who have the utmost patience when I speak, but living with this impediment is so hard, so emotionally and physically draining, that it is sometimes a chore just to get out of bed. The worst part is that I love teaching others, giving talks and lectures about science and other fields of study. It’s kind of funny, isn’t it? The one who likes to talk has a stutter and finds it almost impossible to communicate effectively.
