Halloween Masterpiece // Self Para
So who was Inguk to know he wasnāt aloud to join the pumpkin carving contest and compete against the students. Apparently it was against the rules for staff to compete. They were just afraid heād win, thatās all.. At the very least he wanted to be part of it as perhaps a leading staff-member or chaperon of sorts. However, after the first ten minutes of his arrival on he grounds, he was being sent out for being too ādangerousā. How the hell was a chainsaw too dangerous? Itās not like he was using it on anything other than his five-foot wide pumpkin.Ā
Yeah, five foot.Ā āCause if Inguk was to do anything, he was going all out with it; and here, he was in his element. So instead of āruiningā the squishy little kiddies fun (whom were only capable enough to carve a few shapes into a tiny little squash), he decided to heighten his project even further and work on it non stop (outside of class-time, that is) until Halloween day itself. Inguk stayed up till the darkest hour of the night on the thirtieth day of October and began setting up his masterpiece not far from the front entrance of the main academy building.
It took a couple hours to get everything moved (the wheel barrel he was using to hoist stuff around had broken a wheel from the weight so he just carried the whole thing down the stairs instead), and then another hour for final carving. After his two classes of the day, Inguk took a much-needed nap before getting himself dressed. Switching out his thick gloves for a different, more tattered pair, and plopping his sun-hat on his head, it completed his steampunk apocalyptic farmer look and he made his way proudly downstairs to awaken his masterpiece.Ā
The base was the giant pumpkin with an intricate carving and stuck through the top of it was a six-foot metal scarecrow. Itās insides were open and hundreds of gears spun around inside of it, revealing itās kinetic abilities as itās torso, head, and arms moved on their own. Inguk would occasionally reach back to twist a key in itās back toĀ āwind it upā again. It was surrounded it about 30 more pumpkins of all shapes, sized, and colors. Each pumpkin has an intricate swirling picture carved into it, making the picture come together like a puzzle. Fair sized sharp metal pieces were lodged in each pumpkin, as if an explosion sent shrapnel to decorate them. A few chopped up and fire-singed hay-bales sat behind and to each side. Burnt up vines crawled all around the piece Ā He carefully lit each candle in the pumpkins then lit the hand-made lanterns that spun as if on a mobile around part of the sculpture. A small, stone, firebowl sat to the left with an orange flame dancing in itās boundaries. It all lit up beautifully as the night approached and darkness sat in. The breeze was not to heavy but just light enough to make his own cloak and the hanging ripped fabric on the scarecrow flow hauntingly. Itās eyes too were lit with candles behind red gemstones and it seemed almost sentient as it followed peopleās movements with itās head.
Inguk stepped back and admired his own hard work and at the same time took a large swig from his flask (which had gin tonight, instead of the normal water). He grabbed his hand made and perfectly sharpened farming scythe, holding it to the side to complete the masterpiece. On the haybale to his right sat a huge bowl with a mixture of various candy, tiny bottles of booze, and small packets of blood (for those who partook). Letting out a deep, content sigh, a puff of steam followed out his mouth. He grinned charmingly and spoke.Ā āCome anā get me goblins and ghosties.ā
