Young Vash furiously asks Rem if she's sure she wouldn't do to him and Knives what was done to Tesla. Rem’s first reaction is to snap back at Vash, exclaiming that he shouldn't mock what she went through at the time. What do you think this says about her?

What do you think happened in the scene with the fruit knife? Did Vash purposefully stab Rem? Did she throw herself onto the knife to prevent Vash from hurting himself? Something else?

When Rem asks Knives if he's trying to bear the shock of Tesla's story "calmly" and "on [his] own", he replies “I am [...] But we have to go on. There's so much we have to do so it never happens again”, as he cries and hugs her. Then Knives suddenly pushes Rem away and leaves. Do you think this was all a performance meant to soothe Rem’s concerns, or was any of it real?

When Wolfwood sees a vision of himself impaled from all sides and decides “that was something meant for me” — what happened? What caused it? And what does Wolfwood know about it?

In this volume, Elendira denies having “blind faith” in Knives, is surprised that he's “decided there's no turning back”, and expresses the desire to see his plans through to the end just as she doubts anyone will survive to that point. Do you think the nature of her relationship with him has changed (if so, how?) or were readers just not aware of its complexities yet?
