Like I do genuinely get upset that Gray and carmen had a whole other internal arc they needed to finish and they just...didnt. and the show seem to be satisfied with that because they're patting themselves on the back for a redemption arc that takes care of the external and compliment carmen's goodness* but not the fact that Gray is so utterly alone and feels unwanted (HAS felt unwanted for awhile now) OR the fact that their main character consistently verbalized a desire to reunite. Letting him sit IN A LIE without unveiling the truth within in. In a show and finale that prides itself in the unveiling of secrecy so that justice can take its place. It upsets me that they poked at carmen's greatest fear, devastated her, and refused her even the mild comfort on screen that her killing someone she cared for wasn't real. Ignored her consistent desire for the gap between her and gray to close and for him to be physically by her side
She has already shown that Gray with a good life NOT interacting with her DOES bother her as much as Gray with a criminal path away from her bothers her.
Hard as she might try to stay neutral about it when she really isn't that type of person at all
Gray looking at her fondly from afar is only an even remotely acceptable bookend if we got the divide more clearly forshadowed being closed in the future and not good at all when we dont get a hint of carmen's perspective of the truth of the situation atm (what good is gray's bittersweet bookmark if we don't at least have carmen doing the same...hypotheticallybecause bleh to carmen being ok once again with swallowing her feelings. Gray shouldnt be ok with it either but those are the dice rn)
For all she knows the last thing she left him was with the impression she didn't care about him back, that she feels as if she doesn't need him
